Alright, let me translate that. It's my job, why the heck not :-)

Destruction on hill 262 North

These other Shermans of the 1st Arm. Rgt. have been destroyed by the Panther requisitioned by SS-Hstf. Werner. The German tank was on the highground we see in the back on the right side of the picture. After the Sherman on the left was hit, the others turned their barrels towards the Panther, which explains the orientation of the turrets.

(next page)
The same Firefly from the right side. We see the impact of the two shells fired by the Panther. The experienced crew of the 2. SS Pz.Rgt. certainly eliminated this tank first; it was the only one capable of destroying it in it's position. The other Shermans, not of the Firefly type, were left without defense.

On this excellent picutre sent by captain Z. Mieczkowski we can understand the dominant position of the defenders of "La Massue". This Sherman of the 3rd squad, destroyed by the Panther of the 2. SS Pz. Rgt., was aimed at the valley of the Dives where thousands of German soldiers were encircled. From hill 262 North 2000 Poles cost [the lives of?] about 10,000 men of the 7. Armee. (photo credit)

Overall picture of one of the three Shermans of which the gun is turned towards hill 239. Commander Czarniecki, chief of staff of the 10th Armoured Brigade is personally taking a look around the battlefield.

(last page)
According to Polish sources, Underlieutenant Adamczewski, Sergeant Zyrmont, one of the commanders of one of the destroyed tanks, and Corporal Wachlaj are all dead, incinerated inside their Sherman. The cross on the grave of one of them is visible in the foreground. After the battle their comrades have buried them near their tank. The calm and quiet which have returned to the hills give a real sense of their fight. (photo credit)

This Sherman just had time to turn it's turret towards the Panther before it was taken out in turn. (photo credit)

[end]
I hope it helps. I may have misquoted Polish names as I am not used to them, and I may have given these Poles the wrong rank since things differ from country to country and I didn't want to get all my references out.

Cheers, Rob

Well this one will still happen and is on hold ATM. The FF hull is basically finished - a couple of PE bits to add only.

The turret hasn't been started yet....

I just bought this book :

Sladami Gasienic Pierwszej Dywizji Pancernej ( With The Tanks of The 1st Polish Armoured Division), K.Jama 1946

It'll be a good read and will prime me to finish the build later this year

It'll be very interesting and it was written very close to the real events......

Progress on this project.

The base coat on, and the 'stowage' base coat is done also.

The next step is doing highlights and shading on all the stowage, doing the tie downs, and then weathering everything.

The Polish crew (I'm using Ultracast resin figs with Hornet heads) will be ready soon too

Here's where I'm at :

Here's another Update

The crew is now done, and there is now a bit of shading and highlighting on the stowage.

I need to blend the stowage colors now, and complete the 'tie down' ropes.

After that, I can start weathering

I've done some weathering with a neutral wash and pigments.

NB: The Crew are having a rest

The weathering is at about 70 %, with some touch ups to do next.

Cheers

Paul
