Dear friends,
I grew up in Singapore as a kid back in the 70s-80s, I remembered seeing the "red-trucks" of the Singapore Police anti-riot squds.
I vaguely recalling seeing the old British Quad Trucks (Tamiya 35045) used in the fleet of "red trucks" as command vehicles.
a) Does anyone have any picture of these vehicles? (plans are most welcomed too)
b) Will the Tamiya 35045 be suitable for the conversion

According to research I've seen and in reading limited documents about this, Tamiya's kit is a Morris Quad not a Ford Quad, and yes some were converted into Riot cars.
Problem is, that they were used up till 1953 in Japan as riot control cars by Tokyo Metro P.D. and Osaka P.D.
Now having said that, Is it possiable that they were sold to Singapore? That I can't answer that for sure.
I'd think by this time more specialist vehicles would be on the market and more current like the V-100 or V-150 series cars for that peripose.
According to research I've seen and in reading limited documents about this, Tamiya's kit is a Morris Quad not a Ford Quad, and yes some were converted into Riot cars.

Tamiya's kit ain't no Morris Quad - I believe it's a Ford CMP, totally different looking to the British Morris Commercial.

Second, The headlamps on the CMP were enclosed, the Morris Quad's were not.
Third, The doors are different, Morris has two, CMP has one on the right side like a bus. Morris doors are wider than the CMP's single door.
Fourth, The CMP had a spare tire on the rear roof, were the Morris did not.
Fifth, The Morris grill had two intakes on other side of the grill, as were the CMP did not.
And last but not least, I did do some googling before I wrote the kit review.
I didn't trust the Tamiya info. so I went checking.
Plus I've been burned once on the Dodge build with the rear seat placement.

The Tamiya Quad is a Canadian Ford FGT Field Artillary Tractor. It has 1 door on each side
It has a CMP Cab No.12 "alligator hood"
There are two photos (page 250 and 251) in The Observer's Fighting Vehicles Directory World War II published in 1972.
The CMP's with enclosed headlamps have the CMP Cab No. 13 "reverse slope windscreen" A Chevrolet CGT on page 151 is an example. It has 2 doors on each side .
The old Peerless (now Italeri) 15 cwt Truck has the CMP No. 13 Cab.
Tthe British gun tractor that Tamaya model most closely resembles is the Guy Quad-Ant pictured on page 189 of the same publication. The Morris is pictured on page 188. The front axel on the Morris is set further back than on the CMP. On the CMP the grill is approimately even with the front fenders. The grill on the Morris is a foot or more in front of the fenders.

All right, I give. I know when I'm beat.
I questioned the info. because everything pointed in a different direction than what was given.
First was the lack of the "Ford" trademark logo. That would of been a dead giveaway.
Second, the front was in question as Highway 70 pointed out in his reply. I was basing my research and reply on the Mk I not the Mk II.
Since this has come up I'll ask c5flies to remove my questioning of the Tamiya research form the kit review.
