wow i would have never guessed that that was only your 3rd model. it's very good! the only thing that i noticed that would be improved on is the weathering. the hull, wheels and tracks look fine, i just think there is too much on the upper half of the hull (im not sure what to say there becuase elephants/ferdinands didnt have turrets!)

keep it up really good work!!!!1

Andy..
thanks mate..i did think i'd over done it really on the top half of the hull..it's that demon of keep tinkering and adding..i should have stopped a long time ago!!!! never mind live and learn i say!!
Andy.

Looking good! Are the handpainted or brushpainted?

Good job on them,

Andy,
Thats a fine attempt for a third model, I'd say much finer than my third. I noticed on mine that I had gotten to the point of over-doing it with weathering and you've done a great job not doing that. I would tone down the heavy weathering up top, but other than that, I'd say its just great.

What paints did you use? Did you use an airbrush?

Justin/richard
thanks for the comments lads.
yes i used an airbrush but its only a cheap one and you can see where it started spitting whilst i was spraying,i stripped it down and scrubbed it and it sprays ok now...i was thinking of applying a clear wash of thinners to the upper hull to try and bring back the camo a little,i dont quite know what will happen if i do it though!
the rust on the tracks and the cables is actual rust which i got from a ball of wire wool which was left outside for a couple of weeks,it rusted almost immediately all i had to do was crush it then use a magnet to remove the metal fragments...this is the second paint job on this tank the first was going well then i messed it up while i was doing touch ups
the paint is acrylics that i mixed myself,no particular name brand,i have to model on a budget so i have several jars of tamiya key colours that i keep for references and i mix my colours as close as possible to these....

CONGRATS!!! I like the grimy look. Job well done. Don't forgot to pay your wife back for the stocking
You could cut and switch the rear wheels but at this point I wouldn't sweat it. Cheers, Greg

Looks great so far, if you were to get a crew in it, it would look even better. Which model is it by the way , is it a dragon kit?

You put me to shame.
Nice work, really. And I don't think the weathering is overdone. I usually like the less-dirty tanks (after all they were regularly cleaned even in wartime), but they can get dirty real fast.

I think you did a great job on it, painting looks good, weathered . i just have one question those track holders on the front mantle plate, they look like they were just glued there, with nothing backing them, do bolts come thru the track ?

Looks good to me also.
Dang good green Camo shows a very subdued pattern.

You asked on the Lee about base, well here goes Frank is the base man.

But use 1/4" MDF and a picture frame cut pieces to fit frame cut top to cover side pieces and use 1/4 cork for the top over which can use Das or Celluclay as road or ground.

Can't wait to see where you go with it.

Thanks for the remark on my Lee.

guys..thanks for the kind comments.im still learning at the moment and picking up lots of tips from this site..
@william yes mate the track clamps go all the way through the track links and glue on behind
Jeff, you got your hands full with those two dude im looking forward to seeing them finished and im following the build logs..im thinking of putting the elefant on a base that would be basically lots of dirt/mud..a lot of the elefant pics ive seen they all show the ferdinand fender deep in mud and covered in grime..thats what im looking for here

Looks great. The weathering is really nice too. I especially liked the gas stains around the fuel fillers. If this is your third model...I cant wait to see your 10th.
