I'm waiting on my T-34 Krasone Sormovo kit to come,i would like to make it a captured tank.My question is what would be needed to convert it to German service, was there a proto call that was called for? Can i put a panzer III or IV cupola on it?Would any extra storage boxes be added.Sorry for all the questions just a little confused with some of the info i'm starting to collect.Any help would be a great help.

First you could repaint / cover the Russian green with panzer yellow. Some had camo pattern added . You could add stowage boxes ,both wooden and metal (welded to tank )., jerry cans and or rack , if a complete refit you could add German "notec" driving light , some had side skirts added , german style radio aerial ,placement could vary, so please check your reference material. I don' know if the 34 your doing is the low turret or the hex pattern , but a pzr 3 / 4 comanders hatch would be best on the hex (russions added theirs style after seeing captured german tanks. I think the german hatch on the low turret was a one of... You would have to weld the large hatch or replace with sheet steel ,,no room really to get behind gun breach in that tank. Was it a dummy gun ?? command tank ?? Others on this site have much more info . Jim

For.got to mention very prominent german crosses on all sides of the tank. You don't want to get yoyr a## blown away by your own troops!! Some had cross or swastica painted on roof also . Get yourself some good books on the subject. Squadron and Osprey / Vanguard have a lot of good titles Not too pricey. There's lots out there , just depends how indeapth you want to go and how much you wish to spend. Hope to see your T-34 0n here when you get it done. Jim

Google Beutepanzer. Should come up with site for captured Russian equipment used by Germans. Some field maintenence units were very creative.

Hi Edward!
I have done one Beutepanzer model so far and making other right now and have to say, that beute.narod website is a must, if you want to make captured T-34 īs. All those details, what Jim descriped, have exsisted on german T-34 tanks. Not all in one certain tank but it differs between tanks. Some T-34īs had only balkenkreuts painted on them, otherwise they were left as a usual russian T-34. You can also find photos, where balkenkreuts are painted on the inner surface of turret hatch, just in case you are driveing with your turret hatch open.
Some were also painted panzergrey. You could also check this book: Captured tanks under the german flag. Russian battle tanks" by Schiffer Military.
Remember that you can always use your imagination, when making Beutepanzers. Thereīs almost no limitation for it, because nobody has photos of all of them and germans made so much different field modifications on their captured T-34īs.
Good luck for your project and if you have time, you can check my Beutepanzer in my gallery.

For some inspiration there is a thread on my own build Here that may be useful.
Good luck and keep us posted with your progress.
