Thanks Mick.
Do you happen to have a walk around of the short wheel base land rover with the 106mm RR? I've been searching for close ups to convert Tamiya's pink panther with no luck.
Which idler wheel was more common with Aussie's centurions in Nam? From photos I've been looking it seems to me the skeletal. I have the one from AFV's kit and the one from Firestorm but not the skeletal (Mouse Order).
I have three pink panthers to make them Aussie's rovers. One will be a pink panther, another a long wheel rover in Nam and the third a short wheel with 106mm RR in Nam. I also have the plans from Mouse House for the truck used by Aussies in Nam. And I also have the M113 FSV from Tamiya and AFV Club.
Thanks in advance,
Angel

This project is so close, but yet so far ... all it needs is some more resupply clutter, a few captured weapons, tow cables and some figures we have ourselves a vignette! So what's the delay?
Going through the bits and bobs in the workshop the other day I came upon these two characters, which were part of a Centurion diroama I did for the first issue of Australian Defender magazine in 1994, and some Firestorms Aussie heads heads that were languishing in the spares box:
The figures came from the Tamiya 107mm mortar crew and they were given hats from the Desert Storm set ... apart from the mongoloid faces, they weren't too bad, and rather than build from scratch, it would streamline the project to update them ... it's also nice to incorporate bits fom past projects of long obsolete kits.
Anyway, I lopped the heads, drilled down in to the trunks and installed the Firestorm heads - they look better all ready! On this rainy Sydney afternoon I also put some shoulder holster straps and a peak on the cap of the tank commander - all that is needed now are some leads and the switch unit:
I must say, the grunts now look quite acceptable with the new Firestorm heads, and it goes to show how good we have it nowadays when you look at what we had to work with in 1990s, when there were virtually no Aussie accessories.
There's a light at the end of a tunnel, and I hope it's not a train ... being able to upgrade existing figures that were looking for a home was a big bonus, so I'll see if I can get this Cent up to the local hobby store for display by this weekend ...

Tidied up the grunts and gave them a coat of primer ... still nutting out how to do the leads and the switching unit for the TC:
The infantry figures give some good scale comparison to the hulking form of the Cent ... I'm scouting around for some Commie small arms and other paraphanalia to make a pile on the ground inbetween the two figures:

This is coming along nicely Mick, and it's one of my favorite tanks too. If you're still keen on building another one of these beauties later this year, then you may want to check out the Vietnam campaign that starts this August. BRAVO 6 is one of the sponsors and will be offering a prize at the end of the campaign
