Hi folks,

Just another q... would a Stuka flown by Rudel in tankbuster camo qualify?

I have a Revell B2/R2 Stuka kit which says it was flown by Rudel and was used by him as a TB. Otherwise I can always buy the Academy Tankbuster Stuka kit and make one. Do let me know..

Cheers,
BP.

I would imagine the M966 and M901 would both be in the real McCoy since they are purpose built tank destroyers. Nothing saying that a tank destroyer has to have the survivability of a tank. In fact, most do not (jagdpanthers or jagdtigers did though). I doubt a TOW equipped vehicle is good for much more than hunting tanks. Well, maybe bunker buster.

Both vehicles were designed to transport an anti-tank system and engage enemy tanks. HMMWVs were designed as anti-tank platforms with a common chassis that could also be used as a utility vehicle.

the Tow equiped vehicles can be in the wannabes. I think it's just a cute categories. actually if you ask me, the real McCoy will be rather limited, them will be the vehicle built from chasis as tank destoryers, I would say Hornisse/Nashorn, Ferdinand/Elefant, Pz IV L/48, L/70 (A), L/70 (A), Jagdtiger. But if you wanna to keep it as the real McCoy, I have no problem with that. it's a loose ruled build, just wanna get everyone to build, hell we have planes in an armor build groupie/campaign, how serious can we be? #:-) #:-) #:-) (++) (++) (++) (++) (++)

TD Mk1? Just a Joke, but I can still imagine a Chindit thinking this a good idea.

Many SPGs were used as TDs owing to a shortage of able weaponry. It’s either M901 hammerhead, M998 (correction M966) TOW Hummer or Elefant for me.

Do you mean the Panzerjager 1 (as in the old Italeri kit)? I've never heard of a Jagdpanzer 1b.

Well... I'm definitely in for this one... the only problem will be picking the kit --- so many to choose from the top contenders are -

Marder IIIM
Hornisse
Jagdtiger
JagdPanther
251/22
234/4
Ferdinand

Or How about a Pak installed in an Atlantic Wall Bunker???

Wait all those were German weren't they???? Hmmmm....
Maybe...

M-10
Or an M10 - Achilles
M-18 Hellcat
SU-100
SU-85M

Too many to pick just one.
Great idea... I like the longer time frame too... that way I can make more than one!

The Sd.Kfz. 164 Nashorn is a tank destroyer..
It mounted the 88mm Pak 43 /1 (/2 and /3) L/71, basically the same gun as the King Tiger. It was originally named Hornisse, after a few modifications it was vhanged to Nashorn.

This TD was THE real McCoy. I have read somewhere that it is both credited with the only kill of a Pershing in action during WW II, and is credited with the longest range kill of an armored vehicle of over 3200 m (some site even said over 4000 m).

You might confuse it with the Hummel, which was the 15 cm sFH mounted on the identical chassis. I might be wrong, but IIRC basically both guns were interchangable.

I have a Hornisse in production, and even in 1/35 this gun looks HUGE. The gun is as long as the Stug IV chassis !!!.

I may get tired of building halftracks for campaigns but I may try making my dad's old unit. He was in the AT platoon, HQ company, 1st of the 26th Inf, 1st Division. This would come under the category of "door knocker." A U.S. 57mm towed by a halftrack.

I know the Tamiya 6 pounder isn't all that good. Does anybody make a really good 57mm or 6 pounder?

Well I've already got a M-3 75mm GMC that I'm working on (does a previouly started kit count?) but I'm doing it as a Marine SPW so I guess that's out. I do have a 20mm US 3in. Anti-tank gun I've been wanting to start, so I guess that will have to do.

Count this new guy in. The time schedule and the topic are perfect are perfect for me. Not sure what I'll do yet, but I have a number of choices in my "new", but rapidly growing model storage closet.

Someone was talking of a panzerjager I. Several conversions are on the market : AZIMUTH from france and BRACH from italy.

I'll be building a Borgwald IV B, in the Are You Kidding me class ! And I even intend to make a dio for it, entitled "9th of May".
