Hi Guys,
I haven't done much searching yet, but can anyone point me towards some good pictures of ASU-85's. I'm thinking of tackling the SP Designs model. At this point, I think I'm going to ditch the tracks and roadwheels and use the Modelkasten set for the ZSU-23-4 (even if they aren't 100% accurate). I also plan on turning an aluminum barrel on my lathe. Any other suggestions for detail sets and/or parts?
Regards,
Georg

Gennadiy,
Nah, I've got the resin model and I intend to build it, by God! LOL! I've got a bit of a reputation to uphold out in my little corner of the world of building really obscure and hard-to-build subjects. My most recent was the Commander's M103A2 heavy tank. I've got the Navigator IS-4 in my stash and that's going to be on the skids sometime in the next year or so. So, as you can see, I'm a true glutton for punishment (must be the Russian Orthodox upbringing). So, know of any good photo references on the web of this beast?
Regards,
Georg

Georg, glad to see you are going to give the old SP Designs kit a shot.
I think your plan for the roadwheels/tracks is the best you can do at this point. Everything else is pretty unique, so I cannot even think of a PE set that would help for much. Depending on which kit you had of the ASU-85, replaceing the AAMG is about the only other thing I can think of.
I have to admit that the ASU-85 always had a special place in my heart and I was really happy with the SP Designs kit I built many moons ago, but I am also glad to see Trumpeter coming out with one. I do hope they fix the AAMG though...

Hi Georg, I hope these will be useful to you. I took them in Warsaw last summer at the Katyn museum: not so many, sorry.

Guys,
Thanks so much for the help. It is definitely what I was looking for. When I crack the box on this one, I'll make it a blog for all to see.
Regards,
Georg

Hi Georg,
I'm not sure if it is too late or not. I made model of this vehicle (actually still track are missing) almost from scratch some time ago. The model is from paper (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v471/mrafalsk/ASU-85/) but what is most important I collected some picture from web but also I took many pictures of vehicle from Warsaw's museum which Guido mentioned already. My "collection" of ASU-85 pictures you can find here: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v471/mrafalsk/ASU-85/ASU%2085%20Pictures/. I'm sure you will find here a lot of useful pictures.
Regards,
Michal

Is Trumpeter coming out with this for sure? I've always wanted the ASU-85 but the resin kit is a bit out of my price range.
