Looks quite nice Steve. I like the camo job you did. Good weathering.
One note - you might want to dirty-up or weather the tow cables a bit. They just look too clean for the rest of the model.

Steve, well done, I especially like the machine gun. Was the Zim something you did, or did the kit come with it?

Nice kitty! Great work. I like the zim too.

Someday, I'm going to have to screw my courage up to try it some day.

Thanks, you guys are right on the cables. I'm pondering making some of those cables Porky posted earlier. Either way they will get weathered.
The Zim is made of Testors contour putty, I just happened to have a tube. It was not the easiest stuff to work with. Next time I'm going to use Milli-Putt. Well I'm off to work on the Stug-III for Barbarossa. Happy Modelling, Steve

Thanks Delbert, I think I used MM Acryl wood with Burn Umber. Tanks for the compliment, Steve

You've got everything down very nicely mate. The only reservation I would offer is re the zimmerit...it's a wee bit too 'big'. The lines are a bit too big and it's on a bit too thick. It's kind of like you've put 1/48th scale zim on a 1/72nd scale model, though not as drastic looking. Don't worry, it's not a show-stopper.

Apart from that I can offer only one other tip...try running a lead pencil around the rims of the wheels. If you like the effect you can think about using it on other edges to show bare polished/rubbed steel. Places where boots or hardware would have constantly worn at the paint and gone through to the metal and buffed it.

You've clearly got the armour knack (rare), you just need to keep at the zim and get more under your belt to achieve perfection (something I've been trying for years lol)

It looks really good. On top of what the oter said I'll just insist a bit more on getting the spare racks links on the turret much closer in terms of weathering to the tracks.
Ciao

I found this pic which shows a zim job nicely to scale.

Nice job, but perhaps a little more of dirt in the downs and some smoke in the gun barrel will make it even better. How did you make the zimmeritt ? I like the tracks, well done

Siggi, I think the zimmerit in the picture that you posted may be more to scale as far as the vertical spacing goes but the tops of the pattern look way too flat to me. I realize that you didn't do the zim on the models in question but the zimmerit just looks, well, funny somehow.

Siggi,
That's an Italeri Tiger in that photo. I built their Bergetiger version and it has the zimmerit molded into the pieces. It was a decent kit for the non-perfectionist.

It's pre-molded? I thought it looked a bit too 'perfect'. I agree Keenan, it does look a bit odd...due to it's 'perfection'. No zim ever looked like that in reality, I'm sure. But I do think it shows the scale about spot-on, which is why I posted it.

I have a bunch of manuals I bought in Japan and although they're in Japanese they have some truly excellent illustrated tutorials which speak for themselves. I'll try and get around to scanning the zim ones and posting them.

This model had a lot of firsts for me. I had never done zim before. I used the instructions that came in the kit. I made the zim a little thick in some places. The Testors contour putty I used was very difficult to work with. Next time I am going to use Milli-Putt.

I know what you mean Steve, the first time I tried zimm I used Tamiya putty thinned out, but it still dried Extremely fast which made it hard to work with. I've heard Zimm-it-rite is very good stuff also.

Looks good I like it. The paint turned out great. I agree that the cables should be weathered a little bit. But it is a great example. Keep up the good work.
