Just a suggestion, especially to help us CRS types...can there be a page on which there is a list of each ongoing campaign to include start-finish dates? With so many neat challenges out there and popping up all the time, it's hard to stay apprised of all that's going on. :-)

Also if you click on the "Campaigns" link to the left in the main menu, it takes you to the campaign headquarters where active campaigns are listed in red and upcoming campaigns are in green.

Hmm you can find out the running campaigns on the campaign headquarters like Sabot says, but the problem for me is that you loose perspective of what is running or what is almost done and coming.
When there are only 2-3 campaigns active then that would be no problem, but lets say there are 2 armor, 3 diorama and a airplane and sci-fi campaign running then you have a hard time following this up.
After reading your post I was wondering if it would be possible to ad a visual timeline to the campaign section (more work for Jim ), so you can see whet the total agenda is and that you also can see when it would be a good time to plan/start a new campaign.
Just a idea

That looks like a great idea Ronny, wonder if it can be done and who will be the master of the calendar?

eeeeh Gunnie, since he is the campaign leader??
I think that is schould be possible to create a kind of database system so that when Gunnie is adding/adjusting data and stuff in the Campaign board that this would effect the timeline.
But then again I am not a wizzkid

I'm attracted to the benchmarking chart presented - but - I don't know if Jim can make this feature a reality. It would be nice, for those who respond better to visuals.

Gunnie,
it can be done with every program able to display Gannt charts. I think that also Excel is capable to do that. Then just save the graph as jpg/gif and publish it somewhere. In my view this should be maintained by the Campaign Manager/s and should not impact at all on Jim.
If you want I can maintain the file and the gif/jpeg production...
Ciao

Sounds fine to me. Lets try it out and see how it goes. Let me know when you've got one drawn up...

Man, talk about peer pressure!
I sent an e-mail to Jim on the possibility of creating a "window" on the Campaign Page where this Gantt chart could be uploaded and displayed for you guys...

Any chance you could use the calender page over at the MSN group? Might make things simpler...

I considered that - but am not sure of how much site traffic goes through there. We're considering adding/tagging something onto the main Campaign Page...

First off I'm one of those "visual" thinkers! I'd love to have a comprehensive chart of Campaigns. There seems to be an upswing of ideaas for campaigns of late...this sounds like a good tool to keep some order and provide some info for those of us who want to participate in too many Campaigns.

This is a very good idea. It will make it easier to see the overall picture of all the campaigns taking place.

Is anyone still interested in the idea of a VISUAL Campaign Calendar?? I posted a sample in the topic "CAMPAIGNS" a few days ago and it has not solicited any comments. Not sure if the thread has been seen or if it is a dead issue.
Cheers,
Jim

Thanks Kencelot!
I saw that and tried to edit the post and it wouldn't accept any code, smileys, etc-
I'll try again!
I had posted an image of a DRAFT version of a Campiagn Timeline a short while back...the image was lost (well actually I was freeloading for a bit on someones gallery-sorry), so I am re-posting the image.
The dates are approx.
Would a timeline like this help for everyone to keep the Campaigns straight??
Comments & criticisms are welcome.
Jim/ Jaster
I hope the image works!

DOOH!
I have looked at this thread a ton of times but haven't gone to page 1 for a LONG time...
Roadkill has the idea cooking already in a visual format...apologies to Roadkill!
Still the issue remains- are there sufficient people out there that think this is a good idea for it to happen??
Once my Mac is working ( a casualty of the Great 2003 Blackout- problems still unknown) I'd be happy to help out with keeping this file current.

Sorry, on a roll here!
I think it can happen IF the following things are made available...
1) An OFFICIAL 2 or 3 tier system to classify Campaigns as IN PROGRESS, FORMING UP, UNDER DISCUSSION (or similar words).
2) That there is a virtual place that the imagery can be posted/ updated regularly, perhaps a button once you go to the Campaign page??
Just thinking out "loud".

Jester - nice chart. One comment - a secondary legend on the basic color coding would be a benefit. I think the overall idea is GREAT!.
And if could really be done in something as simple as PaintBrush. Just something to add a visual would be a great addition to Gunnies Docet. Both of which serve a very related and different purspose and I see great value in both.
I don't think a full dynamic database would be necessary.
Jester you have a great layout - if you need help maintaining the image - I would be happy to help - Gunny/Jester - just let me know.

Slodder;
When I did the chart it had headings over the different colors...I lost 'em in the cut and paste process from Mac to PC.
They read
NAVAL / DIO / AIRCRAFT / ARMOR
It makes more sense that way-
Agreed that we do not need a dynamic database- just a once per week update, based on the OFFICIAL info as provided by the AROMORAMA staff.
Roadkill did a very similar chart WAAAY before me...I just missed it!
Thanks for the comments!
