After watching Adam and me working together on his M3A1, my 8 year old, Andrew, wanted to do a build with me as well. I cut everything off the sprue and he did all the gluing. He is allergic to petroleum products so we have a hard time finding glue he can use. Testors sets him off badly. The Tamiya extra thin did ok. I also found some odorless CA that we have used. The kit is the Tamiya StuG III early.

Just a few things to add to the hull and Andrew will do all the painting himself. Pollyscale acrylic are safe for him, as are craft paints. He wants to do the figures as well.

Russ,
I think you owe Junior a few Happy Meals now for a good job on the glue. Or maybe a raise in the allowence?

I'm stunned: your son really used Tamiya extra thin? There are almos no glue stains and that glue flows wherever it wants if not applied VERY gently and moderately... Man, he's good with a glue...
Congratulations on talented offsprings!

Andrew's doing some nice work there Russ, good to see your two sons taking up the hobby. Glad that you've found some glue to use that's compatible with the allergies, makes it fun. Keep at it, soon you'll have quite a bunch of models to display! Thanks for sharing all of the work.

Cheers -
Tim

Man Allergies really stink. I've got em too and boy they make life awful. Hope your son can find something that he is able work with. Hope all is well.

Sorry for the long delay on this build. It was summer and the boys wanted to spend time outside. He did make some progress on the build. I made a wash for another build and left the pastels out and he started weathering on his own.

We are working on the schurtzen and he is painting the figures on his own. He accidentally broke the commander's hatch and periscope. More updates will follow. I just don't know when.

I try to build with them together as often as possible. Working side by side alows him to do his own while watching. We use acrylics so if we need to wash off a mistake and redo we can .
