I just finished an excellent book called CONTACT CHARLIE by Chris Wattie about P.P.C.L.I. battle group Task Force Orion fighting the taliban in the Panjwai Region in summer 2006. They seemed to use the LAV 3 exclusively in that campaign (with devestating results!). What armoured or infantry regiments used the Coyote in Afghanistan and are they still in use in theatre? Anybody have in theatre photos? Thanks, Jeffrey.

The Coyotes are still in Afganistan....since 2002.
The are used by Armoured Recce Squadrons on a rotating basis from the Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians), the Royal Canadian Dragoons, and the 12e Regiment Blinde du Canada.
Search the CF Combat Camera image gallery for "Coyote"....you'll find images.

Thanks Jason. I want to build an R.C.D. Coyote w/blast shields using the new Real Model Coyote /08 conversion. Are the blast shields correct for an R.C.D. Coyote and were they in theatre in 2008? I'm a former 2R.C.H.A. gunner and a F.N.G. when it comes to armour knowledge, your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jeffrey.

Hey Jeffrey,
To answer your questions, yes RCD's were in Afghanistan in 2008.
And yes again the blast shields would be correct.
Have fun with Real Model Coyote conversion, Miloslav makes great stuff!
A little somehing to inspire,...
cheers

Man, I'm old school when it comes to the computer. I have much to learn! Rick, I saw your photo on the Real Model site and was so inspired I purchased the conversion. It is a great photo but the only one I have seen with blast shields. do you know where I could view more shots of this Road Warrior looking LAV? Thanks for the inspiration, Jeffrey.

Rick, thanks for the excellent photos. I can't wait to get my conversion kit and start building, it just looks like an asskicker. Where would one find modern Canadian gear as shown stowed in these pics? I went to Maple Leaf Models but they are out of commision for an undetermined period. Jeffrey.
