hi everyone, here's my new project...tamiya's famo and tank transporter. just basic building except for the straps on the pressure tanks. mine was made from styrene strip. the linkage on wheels were little hard as i suspected..all are movable and can be position to any direction. oh yes..be careful reading the instructions. i got mixed up with the screw sizes. had a hard time fixing it..but its worth the effort. assembly came just fine. with or without paint the kit looks good.
i'm still looking for a panzer III or StuG to go with. i'm planning to do an afrika korp scene. comments and suggestion are welcome...thanks for viewing. edssarao

Looking Good mate, but i dont think the trailer was used by the Afrika Korps but i could be wrong. and according to referances the afrika korps had a high quantity of turreted tanks compared to StuGs due to the open terrain a huge advantage for turreted tanks.
so a panzer III would be the go IMO.
Cheers

Hi Ed,
Looking good so far. I really like these huge monsters so I will be following your progress on this one. I built one of these about 18 months ago, it was a lot of fun to do. Here is the link to my build if you didn't see it at the time.

All the best.

Ed, it looks awesome. If you're going for DAK, then either a Stug III D or a Stug III F will do, should you choose to put a Stug on the trailer. Should you choose to go the Pz.Kpfw. III route, then your selection is much much larger.
@ Mathew: The trailer was used in Africa, even more, both types, the Sd.Anh. 115 and 116 have seen service.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for the pick up guys, didnt think it would be in use because: Narrow tyres + a heavy Weight = bogged.
And what i ment to say before was " Turreted tanks a more befitted for desert warfare were as an assault gun becomes more of a mobile target." I have no idea were i got my phrasing from before lol.
anyway sorry for the interuption Ed
Cheers,
Mat

hi everyone, here are some progress pictures of my project. i've already painted and weathered the halftrack and transporter. about the same time build a new panzer for the load. i'm still rumaging on my decal collection for the right markings. this will be a long slow project...check out the pictures....
i'm planning to add afrikakorp figures..but it seems few are available in the market. probably i'll try converting some on my sparebox. comments and suggestions are welcome. thank you for viewing. ed

hi sebastian and alvaro..thanks everyone, yes i'm doing an afrika korps.. i'm still doing some research on the marking. surely the palmtree with cross will appear on the right fender..but still looking for distinguishable markings around it. series numbers and other labels are standard. hopefully i can find some before closing the paint job.
the panzer III is from tamiya. i think one of their latest releases. it's quite expensive here too due to strict regulations on all plastic products. something new just right after the melanine issues. orders and shipment took months to reach our country. what more on your side of the globe. but it's worth the waiting though. ok...thanks everyone. ed

Very well done Ed. This has convinced me to hold out for a famo to be my next build. You may want to check e-bay for the sdkfz 7. I wouldn't suggest the Tamiya version, due to its poor tracks.
