Hey guys
I'm not familar with the differences between the different Marks of Dingo scout cars, so can someone tell me which Dingo scout cars were sent in during the Dieppe raid?? Also if anyone has a brief outline of the differences that would be great.
This will be somewhat answered by the previous question but does Miniart make that mark of Dingo scout car? I have the old Tamiya Dingo scout car... but I've had it with correcting and upgrading old 1970's Tamiya kits. It's just not worth the reward some days....or the money in update or PE sets.
I have a Dieppe vignette in mind I've been planning for several years now and it might be time to start but I want to start with the right kits. Thanks in advance!!

The Miniart Dingo is a good representation of the Dieppe ones. There is some minor stowage differences and you'll have to scratchbuild the towing pin on the fender. Dingoes were towed ashore by the churchills. Another thing to consider is the tire pattern. The markings for "Hunter" come with the Miniart kit, but the tire tread pattern is not correct for that specific vehicle.

Hey Steve
Thanks for the reply. I've since picked up the Miniart Dingo... the one with the markings... only to find out that it is the WRONG version for the Dieppe Dingo. I've since traded it back in to my LHS and picked up the Mk II kit instead which is more accurate. I'll review your notes on the tire tread patterns... I didn't realize that before... THANKS! I know Hussar is working on an AM set of Dingo tires... but I haven't seen or heard of any release date yet.
I own Through The Lens... but you wouldn't happen to have a good photo of the towing pin do you??
Thanks!

You're right about the tire tread patterns. They all have the chevron style treads which aren't in the mini art kit (well atleast the one I have).
The only positive note for me is I'm going to depict HELEN and from reviewing all my photos again can safely say it appears that HELEN was the only one with a different tread pattern... the pattern on the kit tires... phewf!
Also - HUNTER appears to have a different tow hook on its front compared to HELEN... maybe HUNTER was a Mk IB update to MKII standards...???
Funny note on the towing arrangment... it apears as though they attached one end of the cable to one side of the scout car to the other side of the towing hook on the Churchill rear. You can see the tow cable in several pictures in Through the Lens only on one side see page 58. There's also a short write up on pg 37 on how they were released.
