Dear all,
This is my first post in armorama, it is about a Tiger I from 101st SS heavy battalion. I attemt to represent the one used by M. Wittmann in VB but stil haven´d defined the turret numer, can be 212, 231 or 222. The one I think it will be is the 212, mainly because I read that will be the most probably used.
The kit is the AFV one, n° 35079. Overall a nice kit but have got some issues on the turret assemby. The zimmerit is home made using a epoxy putty. And I added a Voyager upgrade for little datails.
Hope you like it.
Well, hope you like it.
Please let me know your opinion and advices.
As you can see, I am on the workbench at night, not the best hours to modeling, but is pretty quiet.
Cheers from Uruguay,
Sebastián

Hi Sebastian! Always Good to see another Tiger on the go! I really like the zimmerit on this Big Cat, it has a real good luck to it. One little thing I would do if you are to depict it as a 2./s.SS.Pz.-Abt. 101 is to perhaps remove the three 'pilze' sockets on the turret roof, as these were supposed to be production modifications as of May '44' and the last delivery of Tiger 1's to the battalion was apparently on the 20Th April '44'... But as always with Tigers, maybe the late Tigers of the 101st did have some 'field' fitted , though I have seen no photographic evidence of this on s.SS.Pz.-Abt.101 Late Tiger 1's.
Looking good Sebastian, keep us updated with the progress...
Phil.

HI Sebastian.
Very nice job, I can see it in person, and look fantastic. Also, this guy start to do models a few time ago, and really do it.
One thing, please do a better focus, and I not sure about the scale effect of the Mg's bullets.
Congratulations, fella!

Hi all, some little advance on the tank.
This is my first proyect since..., all my life (24 years long). In the past I glued some plastic but never in the way of this one. Also I joined a IPMS and started to build my workbench, "every task needs the propor tool". I must thank Alvaro and Flavio, they are the best ones I have seen arround here, and their are my neighbors. Thank you guys!
Dear Phil, thanks for your comments, but please, can you be more specific?, yes I am doing a second company one, so any help is welcome. You are talking about the ones marked on the photo?, please if you have more tips, I am all ears (eyes in this case)
Dear James and Frank, thank you for the comment, I was a little afraid on the result but the zimmerit is a little damaged, more than I wanted. That is because my hands sometimes are a little careless. I will, before the primer, re do some parts to get a more realistic touch. I read that this tank have not seen heavy action before Villers Bocage, and I am planning to do it hours earlier, on the roado to combat, because of this I think the tank will have some light combat damages. One question, wich was the color under the zim?, red primer?, or light grey?
Is not much, but I am a slow builder.
I decided to replace the MG 38 from AFV and put on it a DML one, much better detailed.
As you will see, I removed the zimmerit from the front horizontal plate, I will rebuild this one because I was not satisfied enough.
Now I will be replacing the tools from AFV with some from DML wich are better, es in the machinegun.
Hope you like it.
Comments welcome and needed.
Best regards
Sebastián

Hi Sebastian, I like the new Mg, looks much better. I choose red primer for the under paint/zim coat.

Hi Sebastian! That's the ones , sorry about the confusion over the 'pilze'. You could probably, if you wish fill in the subtle channels/slots on the cupola, as these were featured on the last production model Tiger 1's from June '44'.

Hi everyone...!
Thank you Phil, I will do it, I will fill the slots in the cupola and remove the bases for the crane.
Thank you Doug, I really, really like what you have done with the Panzer IV, nice zimmerit and the extra working is lovely.
I have some pictures of the 2° company moving trought France on the way to Normandy, but I have got only three:
This one, showing the Tiger n° 205 which is Wittmann´s one.
This one, showing the n°211
And the one of the back of n° 221.
I am building Sowa´s Tiger, so according to my reserch in forums and books is n°212, are you agree?, Is everybody agree?
I will do a similar tank to the ones in the photo, but of course whit turret n°212.
Does someone have any picture of it?
Here are some advances:
The exhaust covers need some work to get the correct twist, so I will be workin on that.
Here is the tank with the skirts, it look so nice with them...
Now it needs some details, I will work on it and then apply the primer which I still do not know which one shoul I use, any comment?, I will finish it whit Tamiya Acrylics, so a primer it is a must, but what about the zimmerit under the primer, any experiences?
well, hope you like it
best regards
Sebastián

Very nice, congras for your "first" Tiger. A note, if you use acrylics maybe a primer aren't necessary, anyway choose a light colour for the primer.
Good Luck

Hi every one...!
After some 20 days away from plastic and spending most of my time on the university, I can finally do some advances on the Tiger I.
I finish the PE mounting and get ready for primer. It is my first time using primer, so I decided to first try on and old Panther tank and then, when it get my approval I was able to go for the Tiger. I use the "Surface Primer" from Tamiya, gray tone, en thinned with paint thinner from the warehouse.
I was thinking on some modulation, but then I didn´t know how to get the primer darker, black Humbrol perhaps?
Well, here are the photos:
I hope you like it...
As you can see there is a dead kubel on the background, I will try to get it back to life!
Cheers
