I recently began work on Revell's BMP-2 and I have a question regarding its amphibious use. I plan to make a diorama showing the BMP-2 coming out of a river or stream. I've noticed in photos that the vehicle has what looks like a metal plate attached to the front when it is used in the water. My model doesn't have that feature.

Question: Is that plate necessary for amphibious use? If the BMP is crossing a river where it won't be submerged (water about half-way up the hull) is the plate necessary?

BTW -- this particular kit is a bear to put together. I wouldn't recommend it.

Thanks.

HI

the metal sheet that you said is the water barrier and its needed to amphibious operations the kit, as I rememmber the kit has this piece separately so you must modify it with some scracth to get the results you wantedregards

Thanks, Raul. Do you (or anyone) know where I can get ideas for scratch-building the water barrier?

Since the kit is a repop of the old DML kit, just look for other builds on that to see other frustration with the same kit!

I also built Dragonīs BMP-2 some years ago. It was an easy, nice build.
But at that time, I had no information about accuracy.

For the opened waterbarrier, the 2 holders must be changed, or better... completely replaced.
Eduard has separate pe-parts for this in their set! They need some modification, for an open barrier.
