Well I finally got a model done this year. It's not my best but at least I finished it. I hope you guys like it.
Oh and it's a Vickers MkVib Light Tank in New Zealand markings for North Africa.

Awwww Shaun, it soooooooo cute! But seriously. Nice build there, good work! I can feel you pain. Been working on a Dragon Pz 38t for near 8 months. That kit just beats the tar out of me some days. I think too much detail on the kits, aka too many darn small parts, are stealing the joy out of my model time. What seems to take hours to complete seemed to only take a few minutes not so long ago.
But I digress. Good work there and keep it up. Great subject there as well, it sure was nice to see.

Best,

Walter

Looks great Sean, did you make the tarps yourself? The folds look natural. That antenna mount looks cool too.

I like the way the piece looks, like a small robot or something. I'd like to know who makes this as well, or did you scratch a lot of it?

Thanks for sharing.

Cool build, and also a great paintjob ... me likes a lot. Something very different as well, which is also refreshing!

Thanks for the encouraging words. The base kit came from IMA Models of Hong Kong. Since the kit was missing a whack of hull parts I decided to build my own plus add a few bits by scratchbuilding them.

The tarps are made using Green Stuff putty. I roll it out paper thin using talc powder to keep it from sticking to the roller. It also helps with folding as if you make a mistake you can easily undo it cause the putty will not stick to itself. Once I'm happy with the look I simply brush Liquid cement all over the tarp which gets rid of the talc and any fingerprints.
The antenna mount is scratch also. I've added a pic to show it in its unpainted form.

Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful workmanship. Your first two pics made it look easy. The second two illustrate how hard it is to make it look easy.

For those interested in the base resin kit, here is a link to the manufacturer's website:

I second Doug's accolades...... I have always wondered what the IMA kit was like. Thanks for sharing - it looks like it was a lobour of love for such a small tank!

Hey Sean,
You've done a great job on your paint scheme, the scratch building looks good too.
This is one early war vehicle that I'd like to see done in plastic.
Cheers

Hi Sean,

A finished model is always cause for satisfaction. I enjoyed watching the build of this one and the work you put into it shows in the finished kit.

Great little vehicle.

I usually don't comment on larger scale kits but this one I have to say something. You've done a beautiful job and i am jealous as I haven't completed one in a couple of years. Thank you for sharing.

Hello Sean, Beautiful model, I would not have wanted to go to war in one of those, but I always thought it was a cool looking little tank. Al
