Hello there,
I would like to share with you one of my latest projects: a scratchbuilt PL-42 railcar of "Za Stalina" armored train with T-34 turrets.
A photo of the original can be found here:
http://wio.ru/rr/ww2mal.htm
Its a little diferent from Kozma Minin, in the type of turret, the rivets, and the middle observation tower.
It starts, as always in my projects with the scale drawing of the parts in Cad. I then print it in adhesive paper, and glue it to a sheet of plastic (polyestirene)
The cutting is made as it would be with a paper model, and it starts taking shape:
One of the turrets:
The structure, inicial stage:
The interior, with some detail, as it will have an opened trap door on the top:
Some of the detais of the interior:
Structure closed, with another turret and some of the nearly 450 rivets handglued:
Another view of the inside of the railcar:
The first test with primer:
Base color russian green (vallejo):
A closer look at the camouflage and some rust:
And now, finally, the complete project:
Hope you like it as much as i did building it!
Hugs!

Antonio,
Saw the title on the Home page and just had to look - what a stunning build! Please tell me it took months of agonising work... Is it 1:35 scale? And why scratch-build the excellent turrets with so many T34 kits to plunder? (I build detailed tank interiors from plastic card when resin kits are available, so I appreciate the joy of making it yourself.) As I recall, these needed a mid-train armoured steam loco to move them - is the whole armoured train being built? If you do I hope you'll fight for the right to put up a narrow shelf along the whole length of the living-room wall to show it off...

Thank you all
Tom, i started it in December/08; it took 4/5 months, dedicating nearly 1hour per day, and some more on the weekends. Some details really took a tool on me, hehehe... (it is 1:35)
I was building it while i finished this one which you may already have seen:
https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/133510&page=1
I decided to scratchbuild the turrets because, well... I really have more time and patience than money lately . And also, because it gave me some experience in trying something that hard. In reality I drew the CAD drawing on top of an existing paper model of the T-34 in 1:25, so it was a matter of rescaling it and some trial & error on the assembly.
I am starting another one, but haven't put aside the idea of making the locomotive
.
And yes, the shelf... one of the problems I have now is where to put them!
Hugs!

Um trabalho realmente muito bom, Antonio. It has to be huge. That's a very fine scratchbuild job. Were the turrets scratchbuilt? I'd like to see the wheel units, just curiosity. Thanks a lot for sharing. Best regards.

Antonio,
Truly stunning - I missed the earlier model, but now I'm even more impressed!
