I just purchased AFV clubs new T-34/76 kit. It described as "1942 factory 112." I also bought a set of Friulmodel's metal links- But I think they are the wrong ones. I bought ALT-38, T24/76 model 1940. My question is, would it be accurate to put these tracks on the AFV Club T-34? My realm of thinking is that the Russians would add any tracks they had left to their tanks. If not, would anyone be willing to do a trade for the correct tracks? I only opened the Friulmodel box, and did not open the plastic baggy holding the links.
Thanks for any help!

I am a huge fan of Russian armor. Became an expert at soviet armor order of battle in US ARMY intel as a 96B. My point for boasting is that I would not know such a fact about those tracks you ask of. I am sure your model would be quite convincing with the Friul tracks you bought.
The truth is, you never know what desperate innovations troops and crews come up with when parts unavailable in bad weather and fighting conditions. If you would have put T55,T72,T64 track on your WW2 T34, well, then I would speak up.
I am not sure if I would rule out those tracks. If they are Russian, circa WW2, I say anything goes outside of the factory and into the fire which most of them went.
Cheers,
John

The early tracks would be the 550 mm track links, but by 1942, standard was the 500 mm tracks with a cast waffle pattern.

I am not expert at anything, but I am a big T-34 fan and I've never seen a photo of the model 1940 type tracks on a later vehicle such as the one you're building.

Ditto - Danny.
There were about 14 different types of T34 track. The early model 40 and 41 used the "plate" type track almost exclusively. model 42s and later had the waffle styles that were 500mm. Many of the Factory 112s had the 550mm waffletracks.
Might I reccommend the MasterClub set ? They are a great value and are IMHO the best!

DOH! I wish I read your post earlier- I decided to bite the bullet and get Friulmodels waffles for the T-35/85. If they arent exactly right, they are close enough. Im going to shelf the first set- Dragon makes a 1940 kit, right?
