Added a recommendation that uploading of in-progress photos to the thread or gallery should be added as a rule. We have had people entering a model they did not build themselves (and maybe that should be a rule as well) or entering a model they built years ago (sometimes for a previous campaign).

Added that award ribbon filenames are case sensitive. Example: "370.GIF" will not work, it must be "370.gif".

Evidently I can't edit the original message anymore so I'll just add this here.

The campaign ribbon image must be something custom designed. It can not be a real military ribbon. The reason is to avoid any sort of legal/moral problems.

One Question: Is there a difference beween "Operation" and "Mission"?

Cheers!

I haven't paid enough attention to it. It's something that slips my mind all the time.

Made an update to the Campaign Leader Tutorial.

Awarding campaign ribbons has been streamlined. You can now award multiple people at the same time by clicking on the check box by their names then clicking on the "Update" button at the bottom of the screen. Also after awarding a ribbon, you no longer get taken to a blank screen and have to click your browser's "Back" button.

The size limit has also been changed on ribbon image files so I hope this fixes some of the ribbon uploading problems we've been having. Ribbons are still the same 50 by 20 pixels. The extra file size will hopefully acomodate larger color palettes in some of the ribbon files we've been seeing.

The campaign page doesn't show anyone enlisted. Unfortunately I don't have privileges anywhere but Armorama so I can't see what is happening. Best to take it up with the Aeroscale campaign manager.

Here is something for Campaign Leaders to consider from the Features Editor (my immediate boss):
----------------------------------------------------------

Could i also add that as the feature editor here on Armorama I would like to see some of the Campaigns turned into On Display or features in their own right once the Campaign has finished so that we have a more permanent record of all the hard work and builds that you put into them.

Ideally the Campaign feature needs to be put together by the Campaign leader and then emailed to [email protected] with as much information as possible so that we can create the feature.

A couple of simple guild lines to help us put them together

1. We need good quality unedited pictures in at least 800 X 600 format or picture retaining that ratio.

2. We need the builders name and call sign and a description of their model/diorama.

3. we would like to see a small write up about their model if possible outlining the kit and extras used etc.

4. And finally we need the campaign leader to do a small write up about the campaign and exactly what it is about.

5. Zip it all up and send it in

and we will do the rest.

any questions or suggestions please don't hesitate to contact me via PM or email

cheers

Keith

1. Do we really want/need the builder's actual name? I think their call-sign will do.

2. To help whoever is going to make the campaign feature, the leader should make sure they get the details of the build (kits used - brand/scale/name, paint, AM parts). The best time to do that is when they first post to the campaign thread since some people don't visit that often.

3. The picture quality might be a bit tough to enforce. Some people seem to only have their cell phones to take a picture. Again, the best time to ask for a better photo is right after they post.

Getting the details during the campaign will make it much easier and faster to get the feature done.

Oh and I renamed this thread as it's not just for new campaign leaders.

In the Rules section, leaders should always specify if only new builds are allowed (can't start until the campaign begins) or if already started builds are allowed. This is a question that almost always gets asked in campaign threads so it's best to just make that explicit in the rules.

I added a section on how to find the campaign page after it has ended.

I changed the Campaign Leader's document to insist that a picture of the final build MUST be in the campaign gallery in order to qualify for a ribbon. This makes it much easier to create an Armorama Feature from the campaign. We had to track down people and images for the "Tank Killers" campaign which wasted a few weeks. It's much easier to just go to the campaign gallery and grab the images instead of slogging through the campaign thread. It also makes it easier for leaders to award the ribbons.

I changed the original message to reflect the new way to upload ribbon images. No more having to name your image files a special name!

Added a new section on how to advertise a campaign on other forums. The idea is to funnel all discussion to the actual campaign thread by having that forum's campaign manager lock the advertising thread. This procedure should make it easier on a campaign leader so they don't have to check all the threads in all the forums.

I have always assumed "one build - one campaign" unless specifically allowed. No more assumptions. For Armorama, this must be specifically allowed/dis-allowed in the campaign rules. The document has been changed to reflect this.

I have a brief question:

I had a quick look at the campaign submission form, and I was wondering: How does one indicate on the form that one would like the campaign to be a 'Kitmaker University' campaign?

Thanks.

Good question. For some reason I have to set that so just send me a PM saying you want it to be a Kitmaker University campaign. I'll have to ask why it isn't something campaign leaders can set. My guess is that one has to be careful not to have similar campaigns in multiple sites.

Is there somewhere one can go to look at completed campaigns? They aren't listed on the campaigns page so far as I can tell, but it would be nice to be able to go back and, for example; see what has been done in the past and when; or see who was in that last campaign I did; etc.

Nathan,

Select the pic you want to delete. When displayed, look below and there is a heading "Additional Info". Click the icon of a computer screen with a pencil across it and it will take you to a screen with the delete option. Do note that deletes cannot be undone.

Cheers,

Tat

Maybe a few years too late, but if you go to the Campaigns page and click on one of the "Section" icons on the right, you get a list of present and previous campaigns for that section.
