Hi everyone,

For my first build log I am planning on making the early tiger 1 tank "Tiki". I chose this tank because of the appealing camouflage.
I am going to use these kits:
-Academy Tiger 1 early version with interior
-Fruilmodel early tracks
-Jordi Rubio metal barrel
I am only 13 years old so my parents don't want me around enamels or turpentine, so I am stuck with acrylics! This should be okay.

Here are pics:

I will post pics soon!

Thanks!
Also, could someone please tell me how to get these pictures on to my posts instead of linking them?

Use photobucket. http://www.photobucket.com and upload them there. Then use the code in which you have [img] prefix. Good luck and remember to take your time. I am not much older than you so best of luck to you. Also, try turpentoid. Its a turpentine alternative and can be found at most art stores.

A good choice for a Tiger.

If you need the right decals, there's a Bison Decals sheet (BD-35019) with the "Tiki" markings on it if you can track it down. I have it in the stash as I'm planning to build that tank myself at some stage.

You'll probably find acrylics better to work with in the long run, and as Sean says turpenTOID or "turpentine substitute" works just as well for modelling purposes. TurpenTINE is pretty nasty stuff.

Good luck with your project, and keep us posted!

- Steve

PS: I just had a look at the photos on your gallery page and that's some pretty impressive stuff for a 13 year-old. Well done!!

Q your better off with acrylics you wont need that awful lacquer thinner. I use windshield washer fluid for my acrylics from advice of one my club leaders. I tried it for the first time the other day and it works great I am going to use that from now on. Cheers and I hope Tiki comes out great. Just take your time.

Thanks guys. Sorry I am taking so long to post pictures, but my dads camera is not doing what it should be so I need to wait a little. The pictures will come soon, but heres a description of what I have done so far (Try to visualize it...)

The turret is mostly done, I am working on the inside of the roof plate. I have started a little bit on the suspension as well.

Pics soon,

Okay, after a long wait, here are the photos of my work so far. The main point of this blog is for me to learn some painting skills, so the building won't be a major step in my book.
Here we are:

The Fruils

Interior of the turret

Interior of the hull (Nothing is fixed)

Engine

Thanks!

Great work! I have been thinking about getting this kit for a while to turn it into a wreck. Here are some links you may find useful as a reference: Corrections to the academy kit, if you like accuracy, and also David Byrden's site.
