What exactly is the indent at the base of the T-55 turret? Just below the wading snorkel:
It is only on the right side of the turret and I think it is not present in all T-55... Does it has any purpose? Pic from Prime Portal and taken originally by me. Thanks a lot in advance. Best regards.

It is a vent for the exhaust fan. WWII tanks had these on top of the turret.

Thanks for your answer. I'll add it to my Trumpeter turret. Best regards.

It's a fume extractor.Basically it's a feature of all t-55 and derivates.T-54 and older versions has them on the top of the turret and it has the shape of a mushroom.Note that at the bottom of the turret there is a chamfer edge. This thing is a feature of a t-55.
T-54 hasn't it.
Lower edge and mushroom

Hi the answer is it is part of the NBC section , in essence it is the outlet for the over pressurisation system . The air in the tank is at a higher pressure than the outside and this stops any particals from entering. cheers ian

OK, thanks a lot for your replies. I added it to my turret. The epoxy putty is still curing, now my Trumpeter turret looks more like a Tamiya's'. I'll post some pics in a couple of days
