Nice work. Flames and smoke are notoriously difficult to model and you are doing a good job here.
One suggestion. I think the flame coming out of the flamethrower should be a redder colour moving to yellow rather than the way around you have it. I could be wrong but I think this would be more realistic.
I would also try and do it all as various shades of orange rather than just a red or yellow colour.
Great work though the smoke plume is very convincing.

Wow! That is awesome! I have only seen something like this done once before.

I think your second version looks more realistic, though perhaps a bit less dramatic than your first. I liked the "hot" portions at the base of the smoke plume in the first version, but I like the smoke better in the second version.

Thomas HI! THAT is really cool. A lot of thought, work , and effort, i'm sure, but a fantastic result . I'd be real proud to display that piece on my shelf.

That's a major challenge to take on, I'm holding back on this kind of thing for a while at least.
About the only thing that would make it better in addition to the painting suggestion(s) would be to have the flames glowing.... or replaced with the real thing

Finally. How to make static fire. Would have never thought about insulation foam. I have a tube of the stuff in my garage. Now, I just have to decide what to use it on.
