I've always wanted a BTR-80, but it is difficult to get one in my country. I didn't know that that there are a BTR-90 until a couple of days ago. I've searched for pics in the net and have found a good bunch of them, I've even found a paper model that can be used as a basis for scratchbuild. The point is, I've found several pics of BTR-90, but I've identified at least three different types of them, with some differences between them. Here they are:
Type one:
Type 2:
The vehicle in the two first pics seems to be up-armored in the turret ring zone. The papermodel is mostly like this Type 2.
Type 3... Not exactly an actual vehicle, but the blueprints:
*EDIT* A pic of type 3:
As you can see, all different between them, the question is: Which one is actually in service? Maybe one of them is a prototype or pre-production vehicle, I want to know it as well. Best regards.

Neither. There are VERY few BTR-90's in service and these are mostly early ones with BMP-2 like turret. Russian airborne were interested in getting BTR-90 with welded Bakhcha turret module but there are no signs that these vehicles are in service in any sizable numbers. M-Hobby, Russian scale modeling magazine published a good set of drawings back in 1996. They are available to view here:

Thanks for your reply... I think I'll go for the type 2. Is it a BMP-2-like turret or actually a BMP-2 turret? If it is a BMP-2 turret, them I can take the measures and basic shape from a BMP-2 for making it and then "update" it with new details. Best regards.

Don't know, light armor is of little interest to me. I think it's directly on BMP-2 turret geometry-wise, but with some new components added.

Found this pic out there somewhere:
I didn't know that the BTR-90 is way bigger than the BTR-80. Best regards.
