I built thier Ukrainian Village house and, true, the parts don't match up but, thats where other products came into play. I used Balsa strip wherever they had made vacu-formed wood and also glue plastic "guide strips inside the building halves for alignment. Another thing that helped was I used 80 and 100 grit sandpaper to start sanding the mated areas. Takes down the seams extremely quick (so be careful fellas) then worked my way up the grits. Also texturing the plastic helps. I use a mix of liquid cement and squadron green putty (fumes are killer so, use proper ventilation or work outside). Just some notes on the one I did. Have to get another. Thinking about the African one

Dave, that is great work. The bonus I always get from your builds is the tutorial that goes with them, showing how you do everything, giving references, and all in simple terms.

Looking good Dave. I gotta give ya credit, it looks better than mine.

I built one of these things last year and I swore I'd never buy another. None of the parts fit correctly because the "castings" or whatever you call them, didn't match. I did manage to make the thing look decent with a lot of putty and sanding and putty and filing....

I thought I'd give mini-art another chance with their Normandy House. Same garbage. Part halves don't line up. Last mini-art kit for me.

Good luck and I'll keep watching your build.

Steve

I dunno Steve, I've built, I think 6 of these minart buildings and with a lot of careful work they've all turned out good. The first one I built was a total wreck though

Nice work on the car Dave. Will you use any of the figures you got with the Miniart kit?

Thanks Steve, perhaps the time I spent playing with vacformed aircraft kits years ago helps with these buildings. (Plus actually reading/watching their tutorial on their site solved the interior wall fit with a decent seam.)

I followed their instructions and watched the vids, but I"m going to go back and watch/read them again, 'cuz I obviously missed something. The curves in the edges of the buildings where their damaged do not line up with the two halves. I don't see how any amount of sanding is going to make them line up.

This makes the second Mini-art kit to do this. I don't see how everyone raves about these things.

Continuing along,

Did a light sanding to get rid of the nub's from making the bullet holes.

Built up a little more rubble on the inside:

There will still be more added after finishing up in inside walls etc.

Just playing around with the placement of various items.

Still haven't decided what figures to use. I tried out placing the figures that came with the building,
But if I do use them, I would not be using all of them as it seemed over crowded to me.

You have a nice build there Dave. I would check the sidewalk depth though for a street lamp. Looks too narrow for a light to be on, takes alot of sidewalk space. It seems to me that they who make sidewalks forget about adding things like lamps and sign post. Putting a figure by the wall and lamp will show you that there is not enough space to walk. But, then I am no expert and sidewalks may be narrower in Europe than here. Anyone know if there is a differance? I was doing the Ukrainian building also, and the same problem with the line up of sides, just would not fit. Lots of filler etc. to get it looking decient. Still, with the agrivation, it will look alright.
