Hello,

I'm building the Trumpeter 1/35 IS-3m and my problem is that the upper and lower part of the turret don't seem to fit well and the gun even seems to be off centred, pointing a degree or two to the right.

I'm absolute novice at scratchbuilding (and well, modelling too) so if anyone had a simillar problem and could describe their solution, I would be extremely thankful.

Thanks.

When I initially built the kit, I had similar problems. You have to spend some time sanding to get a good dry-fit, then when mated, fill in the gaps, sand to a smooth finish, and re-create the cast texture.

actually the Trumpeter JS-3 Turret is a rather bad copy of the Tamiya turret..yes, plenty of sanding and dry fitting....
and if you want to go the extra mile..you'll have to detail the top hatch spring mechanism...willl post photos later on today, if you wish!
not a bad kit overall.....

Thank you both for your advice, I hope I got it right (I still haven't glued it). Those pictures would be really cool, thank you. And I absolutely agree that it is a good kit. This is my third kit, my first and second was Tamiya Tiger Early and T-55, so something like a bad fit is entirely new to me...

This was the kit that got me back into modelling; had the same problems, but nothing that putty can't fix.
