I decided to give the T-34 and bedspring armor a try a while back with some Russian tankers from the spares box.

Great work! I really love the beaten up bedspring armour.

Where is that figure with the Ushanka and pistol from? Fantastic work on the figures also its a really nice scene. Jon it's just one great diorama after another with you at the moment! What's next?

The tank itself is superbly weathered, and your bedsprings really catch the improvised nature of the countermeasure.
tell us how you painted and weathered the screens.

The scratchbuilt bedspring armor was made with PE [ the frames] and with fine window or door screen wire from the hardware store. I painted them first in raw umber, then Steel Metalizer and finally with MIG pigments for the rusting. Making them wasn't half as difficult as attaching everything properly to the T-34.
In fact I didn't attach the bedspring armor until after the model was entirely finished; let me say that initially drilling the attaching points in the finished model was nerve wracking. You guys know how that is, all that work done only to completely screw it up at the finish [ LOL] !
The entire project started with the figures as always, does anyone else do that ?

Thanks sincerely Jon, I too think the bedspring armor add on gives it that extra bit of character the T-34 needs. I wonder how common this defensive feature really was on late war T-34's ?

Nice dio overall Jon. I like the composition and weathering ... but nothing is as impressive as your "spare box" ... wish I could pull as many nice Russian figures out of mines.
Would love to see some images from behind the building .. of the 88, etc.
