Hello
I am new here. So this is my first post. I have two questions. I am building Tamiya's 1/35 T-62A wondering, what color do you use on the plastic log on the back? The Tamiya instructions say red-brown, (as a matter a fact I think Tamiya is in love with that color when it comes to wood. LOL.) but I don't think this would be right.
Also, how necessary is the 12.7mm DShK? My research has found that it was optional up until 1972. I am have trouble with the kit supplied one and would like to leave it off.
Thanks
Scott

Firstly welcome to the site Scott. I cannot tell you about the MG as I just don't know. When it comes to the log clean it up and throw it out of the nearest high floor window and replace with a suitable stick, nothing looks more like wood than a suitable stick.

1. I agree on the kit log. Get a real stick, it will look better.
2. I, personally, would chuck the kit out the high story window too. I built quite a few of Tamiya's offering and thus appreciate the Trumpeter kit. But that is only my opinion and I know that sometimes the price outweighs buying the best. Besides, I still have at least 2 old Tamiya kits in my stach to build yet...
3. The DShK can be left off, as if it had not been "check out" of supply by the crew. But the loaders coupola would still have the mounting for the MG. Make sense?

Thanks for the replies guys.
While I would love to have chucked the whole Tamiya kit for the Trumpeter one, but the Tamiya kit was more than 75% finished when Trumpeter released the new one.
I had started to concluded I would need the DShk because according to my research the A model is the one that had them. But a recent picture from the Georgian conflict had a pic of a T-62 without it.
Again thanks for the replies............

Scott, if you're going to build the Tamiya kit basically out of box I'd add the MG as well. The kit has alot of issues, to put it lightly, so the MG should be the least of your problems. That's probably going to come off as a bit snarky but that is not the intent. I say go with what you think looks best to you.
