Is the barrel the only difference if I wanted to convert a tamiya JSU-152 kit to a JSU-122 or 122(s)?

Yes, and the same is true for the 122S (which they made a TON of......) Different mantlets though.

Not quite, the ISU122 had no muzzel brake, the ISU122S with the different mantlet had one.

Tony- I was referring to the different mantlet on the ISU-122S, not the ISU 152 compared to the ISU 122. The Russians actually made more of the 122S than the 152!

I'm refering to the ISU-122 and not the 152. The original ISU-122 had no muzzel brake and the ISU-122S did, just like on a IS-2.

What's the disconect here Chris? The ISU122 had NO muzzel brake, the ISU122S DID. What part of that don't you understand?

He is stating that the mantlet is different on the ISU-122 and the ISU-122S, the barrel was not the only difference.
Now the ISU-152 and the ISU-122 shared the same "chin" mantlet. The ISU-122 also was the A-19 gun the ISU-122S with the round mantlet was a D-25T like on the JS/IS-2 and yes, it did have the muzzle break.

Yes, that was the point I was trying to make. The 122 had the A19 gun in the same mantlet as the 152.
JHunter- Nice model! THats the new Tamiya kit, right. Love to see more pictures....
regarding the length you should seat the barrel flush with the mantlet and it would be ok I think. I dont have exact length measurements on the barrel. ISU-122

Yes, that's what I stated above. Here, I'll post it again.
The ISU 152 and the ISU122 have the same mantlet. The ISU122S has a different mantlet and barrel than the ISU122.
