hi
its a long time since i posted but here is my latest build project. the trumpeter kit of the german 21cm morser18. the kit is excellent. there are a few small fit issues but nothing major, nothing out of the normal for trumpeter. it is how-ever a big kit, the biggest field gun i've built and i belive the biggest you can get without going to railway kits i've pictured it with the tamiya panzer II for some scale. it is about 60% finished at the moment.

more of my models are on my website for displaying them. www.neil22.weebly.com

Ohhhh great!
I waited for first images of a built (or in progress) model. (except for these on big T´s webpage)
I also had plans to build the "17cm Kanone 18" or the "21cm Mörser 18".... but that´s not sure.

Yes this thing is very big... but smaller than the "21cm Kanone 38". (Precision Models)

As I read, the "gangways" on the sides are a bit to short on both Trumpeter kits.
Perhaps we will see update-sets for these... they share the same base.
Any plans which camo you want to use for the gun?

greetings...
Soeren

cool, nice to read someones following my build. i've now got a few photos at the next stage, though the stages are few and far between i'm afraid. but anyway, now its about 98% built, i've sprayed it in primer ready for the first coat of real paint. it will be finished in german yellow, maybe with some green and brown 'hand-painted in the field' camo but not sure yet.

more to follow soon......

next stage up, now painted with german dark yellow and silver on the metal parts that are used... pistons and gun run's. these will then be toned down with pencil lead.

next will be to start with a filter and wash. then pigments....

Looks great!
Ahh, as I see, the rear part of the 2 "gangways" can be "folded" downward like the real ones.
So it looks much better!
I only saw images of wrong positioned parts until now.

Hi, Neil

Very nice beast, I would say. I have 17cm Kanone in my stash. Were there any underwater rocks with this build?

hi
thanks, i'm pleased with how the build is going. yes the sidewalks can be possitioned easily like i have, the second thinner section is in 2 pieces so jsut glue together on the model at the angle you want..... not flat together off the model and add as one piece as the instructions say.

as for "underwater rocks".... i didnt really come across any, just look carefully at the number of the piece and the number on the spear, i think a couple of the small pieces had the wrong number. nothing serious just pay attention befor glueing.

cheers

Great job Neil ! Your choice of build and thread are refreshing and good. I have really liked this subject awhile also. I am working on the M-198 now. I have the Precision models 17cm kit, but being a resin kit I am alittle intimidated by it. I have thought about selling the Precision kit and buying and building the trumpeter kit. Your 21cm is very inspiring. Keep up the good work.

I'm loving this kit Neil, and thanks for showing us the Panzer II alongside for scale comparison.

It would be great to see this beast completed and/or in an diorama!
