Evening all
Here are my final pictures of the "old" dragon hornisse. I've build this for the tank killers campagen
I'm fully aware some parts don't belong but this is best I could make of the crappy instructions
Anyhow:
Build: OOTB with a RB model barrel
Paint: Tamiya Acrylics
Fading: MIG Filters
Dusting: MIG Pigments
Thanks for watching
Martin

Cracking job all round Martin. Admittedly I'm not a "rivet counter", but I for one can't fault it.
Very clean-looking build, excellent paintwork, subtle weathering and some nice attention to detail. Big thumbs up from me.

Aren't those poles on the back supposed to be striped red and white? Otherwise you did a marvelous job.

I would give you permission to inflict a wedgie on the first rivet counter you encounter.

Very nice indeed Martin. I for one am by no means a rivet counter. This is a hobby, meant to be enjoyed. Not meant to be like work with intence hours spent on research. Now there is nothing wrong with wanting it accurate, but the only book I will open when building a model is the instruction book . A helluva job sir

Hi Martin,
Wonderful job you have done there. Can I ask if this is the "verschrikkelijk" DML 6001? (I once had a girlfriend from Eindhoven and I loved the way that word rolled off her tongue).
I bought one off Ebay (Nashorn that is, not the girlfriend)before I'd done any research on it and it has just sat on the shelf since. But if I can turn it into something half as good as this, I'll get sprue-cutting, patching and sanding soon.

Hi Kevin,
The poles on the back are gun cleaning rods .
Agreed,Martin did a great job on this huge kit .
Excellent effort. Its a huge job to do one of these and the Tristar figures just set this little beauty off .
Well Done .

Sorry to rain into the parade. Martin built an excellent Hornisse, no doubt. But he fell victim to the lousy DML instruction, as so many others.
These plates are supposed to be temporarily used jigs for the correct placement of pieces in which the gun travel lock is fitted. You shouldn't have glued them into position.
The step plate is supposed to be right to the muffler, set a little left from the steps.
(both pics show my "Hornisse")
There were some more issues with the instruction if I remember correctly. Terry has listed the errors in his review at PMMS AFAIK.
Don't get me wrong, your model is beautiful. Just wanted to point this out for other modellers or your next Hornisse, so that this will not occur again.
How did you paint the ammo? I love the brass color!
Johannes

The Hummel was the artillery piece and it had the range poles on the back.

Wow, thanks for the great replies
@ Dave, Thnx
@ Kevin, Juan, I don't know much about the German stuff. I mostly build Shermans
@ Steve, The tristar figures are excellent especially for plastic ones
@ Sergio, Thnx
@ Peter and Mike, well I actually admire the rivet counters. To put so much effort in their builds. I'm currently building a Marder III M with some PE and other aftermark stuff. I've got the Nuts and Bolds book for that project to make it more correct. But still it stays a model
@ Lucien, This kit is the Dragon 6165 10th anniversary kit. (eindhoven de gekste )
@ Michael and Tony, Thanks for clearing the pole issue
Great Hummel Tony (I've forgot to put one door open )
@ Johannes, Yes please warn everybody about the horrible jigs. I was to late The PMMS site was off line while building this kit. A well better luck for the next model
@ DJ, The muffler has been done with MIG Pigments old en fresh rust with some black. Some final dusting with MIG Filters Grey for allied green.
It isn't hard but some experience will help.
