I have been trying for a way to give Academy's dull M2 an interesting twist. So I decided I would go Digital after staring at my old Marine Corps uniform. I stuck to using Tamiya's NATO colors. There are still two colors I would like to add to this, to break up some of the "pattern" like a Sand or light sand Color. I finished the turret tonight, after a total of 4 days (mostly letting layers dry) and about 10 hours cutting the masking tape to size. Let me know your opinions/suggestions Gents.
Some chipping occured when removing the hundreds of squares of tape and I plan to touch up some edges and use the 4th color to break up what I see as a pattern.

Its too brown as of yet. You can tell brown was the basecoat. Just something to keep in mind as you progress!

Its looking good. It looks like it is well on its way to the Dual-Texture (Dual -Tex) camo pattern that was experimented with in the late '70s and to early '80s by the 2nd ACR in Europe. It is the perfect time frame for an M2A0 Bradley as well. Dual-Tex camo was an early attempt at digicam. The M60A1 above is a perfect example of it. Here is more info on it.

Actually the brown was the last color I added. I originally was going to keep it NATO Green then decided to do the digi cam. Green went down first, then black, then Red, im all arsebackwards! Thanks though, I will deffinately have to do one more coat of green or sand to even out the red.

Gino, praise from you is always welcome. What color would you suggest for the fourth layer? I was thinking dunkelgelb, same as some use on Tigers, or maybe a sand brown?

Personally, I like the Dual-Tex pattern and would go with another green or a sand color, maybe black too. You can see the colors better in this pic from the link I posted.
Good luck and keep us posted.

No, After the many hours of masking, I applied each color with my airbrush, at a very low 10 psi.

On the pics of the M60, I agree. That may make it a little easier to duplicate in 1/35.......a small rectangular sponge, with a little bit of paint....

I agree with the sand color to break it up a little. When you weather and filter the model, the brown will tone down, I'm sure. As for the M60 pics, the roller idea seems correct for the second pic. Interesting look and will be watching this one for sure.......

You win the camouflage competition my friend. I think a little bit of a lighter dusty wash at this end would be good. It would gel everything together but still let the digi really pop for the viewer.

It was actually most likely the last coat. The suggestion I would make is have the first layer cover about 1/3 the area, second color covers up the 2nd 1/3 and then spray final color. Still looks AWESOME!!!Its too brown as of yet. You can tell brown was the basecoat. Just something to keep in mind as you progress!

Gracias Amigos!! I have been a bit busy lately, but I have decided to mask most of the black and green and a bit of red, theres too much of it and I will be applying a sand color over it. This is the last color with the exeption of touch up that will go on the turret, and probably the most frustrating, as I have to mask about 85 % of the turret to apply the brown. I will keep you posted !

Alex, I grabbed some graph paper and a large colored pencil set at the store. This has been really helpful on visualizing pattern's. Food for thought, Bro.

I love the idea! I know I'm not adding much here, but I think the people above me have given you plenty to think about. You've done a great job Alex, both on this scheme and with the Marine Corps! Semper Fi, and stay safe my friend!
