BMR-1 - based on the T-54 chassis. Light support vehicle based on the MTP-3 which was based on the SU-122-54 chassis. Uses a BTR turret (-70 is my guess, but could have been upgraded to -80) with additional armor. Definately in A-stan.

All I could find with a quick search.

The BMR-1 is based on the SU122-54 and has nothing to do with the T-54. It used some of the same componets as the T-54, the wheel spacing is very different and has a unique lower hull.

That is not a BTR70 or 80 turret. It's a BTR-60 turret with additional armor or more likely stowage boxes mounted to it..

BMR-1: based on T-54 COMPONENTS. Light support vehicle based on the MTP-3 which was based on the SU-122-54 chassis, WHICH WAS DERIVED FROM OBJEKT 600. Uses a BTR turret (-70 is my guess, but could have been upgraded to -80) with additional armor. Definately in A-stan.

BTR-60/70/80 turrets are fairly interchangeable...not exact drop-ins, but close. So while I agree that the BMR-1 STARTED with the BTR-60 turret, I would not be surprised in the least if they did not end up with the super-elevating BTR-70 or BTR-80 turret mid-late war A-stan.

holy crap! you are a SERIOUS modeler! most of just have to worry about slicing ourselves with a sharp hobby blade but THIS! this is taking it to the next level and then some for the sake of plastic building.

I salute your courage and dedication sir! Stay safe over there...

alright made it around, so heres the other side. on the turret it looks like a wolfs face to the right of the turret numbers. on a side note, i know a SF guy who took down bagram in OIF 1, i am going to see what he knows about this vehicle if anything.

Interesting turret closeups.

One hatch says BSSR - Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic. The other hatch text I can't make out so well from that photo.

A lot of Belarussian troops ended up serving in Afghanistan, actually my Father in-Law was supposed to be shipped out to Afghanistan, but was sent to the Czech Republic instead.

There is a very famous monument in Minsk, the Island of Tears that commemorates the Soviet Soldiers who lost their lives in that conflict. It's quite an amazing structure and covered in thousands of names.
