I'm having second thoughts on the base I've built for my cutaway tiger 2 model in progress. I'm worried it's too big. I don't want to look like I'm trying to draw attention from other models in contests. I need the height because I will be having lights inside the tank and the electrics and batteries will be inside base, and I want the tank up higher so its easier to see inside. I'm more worried that I made it too long and maybe too wide. Check out the pictures and let me know if I should just go with original or finish the second smaller one. Would you be offended or mad if there was a model with that big of base next to yours in a competition? thanks for the input!

Truth be told, I like the smaller of the two, not for "base envy" but because the bigger base kind of lets the model get lost.

I'm with Pat & Russel. The small one emphasizes the massive size of the Tiger.

Yeah looks like Im probably going to go with a smaller base. As for the direction of tank I have to position it that way because my cut outs are on the left side of tank. that's not the actual tank that will be on base.

The smaller one. Don't worry about the height

I thought that was the whole idea of contests? To make your entry stand out and impress

I concur with the other guys- the smaller base is better.

I don't enter contests so cannot say if there would be friction, but the smaller base just looks better to me.

Yes of course! But it would seem kind of blatant. I don't want to draw attention from my own model either.

I didn't think of it that way, but you are right. the tank looks massive on the smaller base! And lost on the larger.

Its settled, I will finish the smaller base! I can always use the bigger one for another bigger model down the road. Here's a pic of my nearly finished King Tiger.

very nice indeed. It will look a lot better on the smaller base, because the bigger one actually makes it look less impressive.

really nice work, and with an interrior makes it all just that little bit more special. As for big base v little base I guess I'm in a league of my own here and that's proberbly because I am a diorama builder so I love big bases because I just see potential everywhere:-) Your King Tiger would look good as a diorama of a King Tiger in a museum, concrete floor, roped off 'fence' (for lack of a better word) and a 1/35 Grandad and daughter hand in hand reading the infomation card. What ever you decide I like what you've done so far.

Thats one of the reasons I haven't started my academy tiger 1 with interior. Who made the interior for this kit?

I mostly used Verlinden, but put in some tankworkshop as well. the Verlinden is far superior though. I used alot of aber photo etch for interior details as well.
