Well, at least according to one of the Site-Users on Missing-Lynx, A BT-7 in 1/35th scale. If this is true, and there's NO reason to believe otherwise, this is going to be:

a) INCREDIBLY welcome

b) One HELL of a surprise...

Now THAT is imaginative thinking

This is how it appears on Tamiya's Home Page:

Good news, if it´s true.. Some pessimists here, in finnish modelling site, are already guessing, that it might just be a re-boxed Zvezda kit. Remember that announcement of Tamiya´s "own" japanese Chi-Ri tank, what actually is just re-boxed FineMold kit.? If it´s just a Zvezda kit on new box with Tamiya´s logo on it, then it isn´t that great news..

Unfortunately you're right. As Tamiya do seem to be doing 1 NEW moulding for around every 10 Re-Boxings this could be one of them...

However, let's wait and see - fingers crossed...

Same goes for IPMS Stockholm. Its hardly a wonder with Tamiya´s tracks record .... but a whole new model would be very welcome indeed.

My optimism was well-founded:

Now, if Tamiya just would announce, that they will release completely new, their own version of T-26, just to make dozens of finnish modellers happy, not a re-boxed "#¤#¤# Zvezda or Italeri kit, then it would make our day here in dark North. I would buy two kits, thats sure!

Just for curiosity, can we expect DML to launch their counterattack, as they did with JSU-152?
As notorious blogger Hiroshi already knows about Tamiya´s plans...

Got a piece of news today to share – 2-star is going to release a 1:35 scale Russian BT-7 Model 1935 in coming June, which I heard is a joint project with ICM.

I believe BT-7 is made by Tamiya and figures are made by ICM. As they did with their previous joint project, which was Kübelwagen with figures. Can´t believe they would both release their own version of BT-7 at same time. Remember what happened with Matilda release? Tamiya released their own and ICM, as a smaller company, had to cancell their own..

Good news if true in the end. I built the EE BT-7a, and while fun, that kit needed HELP. If Tamiya does this new mold, it will get me to buy two or three. ANd hopefully there will be a proper aftermarket 76mm turret to make the BT-7a from it soon after....
