Hi

I am building a AFV Club M3A3 Stuart and am at the point where I need to customize it to match the equipment used by a specific country.

I am considering building this as a Canadian tank, however as there are no Canadian decals in this kit, the instructions do not detail which specific parts to use.

So, did the Canadian units follow the British or American practices or some combination of the two. The British tanks have spare tracks across the glacier plate and are fitted smoke grenade launchers on the LHS and a radio antenna on the RHS of the turret, among other details, US tanks have an antenna on a bracket at the rear of the turret and lack the glacier mounted tracks.

Are there any other details I need to be aware of ?

Thanks

Ian

Did Canada use the M3A3 as depicted in the kit?....or were the turrets removed and they were converted into Recce tanks?

Once the Canadians moved from Italy to NW Europe they exchanged the turretless Stuart "Honeys" for the turreted M5A1.

The Canadians would have had unit Standard Operating Procedures for specific modifications and stowage.....not totally British....not totally U.S......Canadian.

Hey Ian,
AFAIKT, Canadian units drew their vehicles from British depots.
That means they most likely conformed to British standards.
Like Bob said, on board equipment was generally the same as British vehicles such as the no.19 radio that used 2 antennae, external fire extinguishers, smoke grenade launchers, etc.......but there were probably a few minor "Canuck" modifications made.
Cheers
