Awhile back I just wanted to see you get some paint on your 72.
Now I'm blown away. You've gone and exceeded any and all of my expectations with the paint. Talk about taking a 'single-coloured' scheme and creating a myriad of tonal variations. Impressive.
I love Soviet armour.....well, OK, all armour.

Wow, thanks so much to all of you for the positive comments. I'm really happy that everyone likes the finish.
With a few days off from uni work for Christmas i've done a little work on the mine rollers. Those are basically finished and weathered now and stuck to the model. All thats left now is the dust and dirt on the tank itself. Hopefully have some more pics up soon.

I have to chime in too Rob, really nice finish on this one!
Among other things, the tiles and sheet metal fenders are well done.

How did I miss this one? Great work Rob, your attention to details is amazing and you built a wonderful model. Miniarm stuff looks really cool and all the ERA tiles on side skirts are great... The paintjob is very nice as well. You did the detailed build justice with colors and weathering.
Looking forward to the whole scene with figures.

Ok, now into the third year of this build!
I can't believe its been going on so long, the silly part is that if it takes me about 3 years to build one model and I have about 50 kits in my stash............
Anyway, I managed to get a whole load of weathering done on the model over christmas at my parents. Unfortunately when it came to photographing my lighting set-up sucks and I only snapped two decent pics before I had to come back to my place......
I present to you a sneak preview of the weathered model, more will come when I'm back at theirs next and have some better lights. Enjoy

I was wondering what happened with this one... and I know what you mean about taking it soooo long to actually finish a kit. But so far it is looking really good. Come on, show us the rest!

Thanks very much fellas!
I really wish I could show you more but all the other photos were deleted (seriously my photography skills suck!) and currently I don't have the model with me, its left at my parents place to work on whenever I go visit them (couldn't face trying to transport this on a train to my flat)

Rob,
That T-72 is wonderful, I'm glad to see this pop back up. Your build log was referenced multiple times when I built my T-62M for Chechnya in terms of weathering. I just wish I had that kind of skill.

Thanks very much guys!
Actually Seth this was too difficult to achieve, I used a cocktail of MIG and AK products and combined found they achieved some really good results. I'll have to see if I can sort out a tutorial or something, but really its just trial and error. Take a scrap model and play around with pigments and different weathering products!

What a great thread Rob, superb detailing and I'm loving the painting and weathering. Can't wait to see new photos once get it back to your place.
Your detailing is going to help me solve some work I'm doing on a long term T-72BM, so thanks for that.
Best,
Mike
