Hey guys,
I havn't built anything in a while so i started craving to build a russian tank.
So i bought a KV-I heavy, 1940 with L-11 gun. (just to be specific )
I searched some websites for some 'in-action' pictures but couldnt seem to find any. Does anyone on here have pictures of these badboys in action?
And also, I'm not to familiar with this exact tank and just wanted some info. where abouts were they mainly used and what conditions etc etc....
Cheers,
Wil.

Hey Wil,
Here's a few sites that'll be of help:
Engines of the Red Army in WWII
RKKA in World War II
AFV Narod
There's bound to be a few more.
Cheers

Most of the KV-1 images out there are (certainly from the Soviet sources) carefully posed propaganda pictures. Sometimes, the best source are the German images of the beginning of Barbarossa where you can see a lot of them abandoned and (relatively few) knocked out.
The Soviet Newsreeels which exist were taken WELL after the battle so, in truth, your chances of finding 'Battle Images' are, frankly nil.
How seriously do you want to take the KV? If it's more than a few pics you're after, the best info and images are in print rather than on the 'Web.

I just wanted a picture of a KV from the war or staged, just instead of a rebuilt or replica in the museum grass field.
Or
Just info on where they were mainly used so i can get vague ideas on what kind of scenery i'll need to make.

Hi Will
In my opinion your first port of call should be Neil Stokes excellent site on the KV's. I didn't notice which make you'd brought but he deals with each available kit giving tips and reference. It's a brilliant starting point to anybody modelling the KV's.
He also has a book out to compliment the site, but its much more in depth about the KV's as a whole than the site. If you get really interested in the KV's then its a must have, probably all you'll need from the reviews I've read.

I'll second Alan's suggestion for Neil's site for anyone interested in KVs. He's got a lot of good information there, including some great kit "recipes".
Also, Neil has a good KV kit primer from a few years back, and you can find it here.
