Replacement wheels for Dragon ISU
Posted: Thursday, May 06, 2010 - 01:02 AM UTC
I understand the wheels on Dragon's ISU kits (and the IS series, I suppose) are too small. Is there an easy source of bigger ones, short of buying a Zvezda kit to rob?

Miniarm IS-1 and -2 roadwheels and scrapers, 35004. You can find them at Historica Hobbies among other places.

Sean,
Be aware that the return roller will need to be moved upwards by about 1.5 mm. Otherwise the roadwheels look really weird. If the kit in question is an older DML, you'll need to add a 1.5 mm space to the top of the hull, too. Good luck!
Regards,
Georg

You might also buy the Stalin wheel sprue from Tamiya through Rainbow Ten in Japan.

Tamiya. It's what I'm using. Lots of nice extra parts on those sprues as well.

Plenty to ponder, then. Thanks all.

Plus, I've just discovered Artisan Mori resin wheels - at a mere £1.50 each!

My Question is this...How much smaller are these wheels? incredibly smaller, or just a little bit?

Jacob, I did comparative measurements on a number of different vendors' wheels and posted them here:
