Found this PT-76 picture and thought that somebody else might be interested. I haven't seen this specific picture before:
"A Russian soldier stands near his tank parked by a demolished civilian car in the ruined central part of Grozny, 27 February 1995. The rebel Russian region of Chechnya capital of Grozny had become a rubble after 11 weeks of fierce Russian borbardment and street fighting. Reuters."

Holy [auto-censored] Erik....THANK YOU.
At 1:44 in the video is actual footage of the T-72A I was looking to model which was captured by the Chechnyans.
This was very helpful indeed.

Thanks Erik thats a really useful reference image.
I thought that the Russians had retired all PT-76 by that time, they weren't so useful after the BMP's were introduced and I had read that PT-76's were kept only by Naval Infantry Units once BMP models were rolled out to motor rifle units. Interesting to see one in Gronzy.

Sean: Glad I could help out without knowing it .
Jon: There's a few photos of PT-76's in Chechnya but I've never seen any in Grozny before. Check out these albums on M-L for a couple more: http://www.missing-lynx.com/library/modern/modern.htm
Also interesting to note that it isn't a PT-76B on the picture. Can anyone ID the unit from the red/yellow circle on the turret?
Cheers,
/E

This is not a Naval Infantry unit or an Army unit.
This is the Internal Troops unit attached to the Ministry of Interior Affairs of the RF. Vnutrennie voiska MVD.

Thanks Taras. Appreciated.
BTW: Was it only the Internal Troops that operated the PT-76 there or did any naval infantry units found their way to Chechnya too?

As far as I know the Naval Infantry used in 1995 only BTR-80, MT-LB and partially Nona-SVK.
Last PT-76B in RNI was replaced in 1992.

Thanks for sharing the image and the ML-link.
As I remember, some years ago, someone made a dio using the image with the cow.
missing-lynx.com
Instead of the tank he used Skif´s 2S1 Gvozdika howitzer.
But at the moment I cannot find the image of the dio.
greetings...

It was MIG. The dio was called "Amazing cow" if I remember correctly.

Hello, after a long search I found more info on the dio.
I thought, it was a german build-log and can be found in one of my older german modeling-papers.
But I didn´t found it.
But:
I found info on the title:
"Die Kuh von Tadschikistan"... I would translate this as "the cow of tadjkistan".
A link to the paper is here: (WOW!)
http://www.vdmedien.com/steelmasters-nr-22-buch_modellbau-236.html?products_id=236&language=en
I will see, where I can find MY "modeling-paper" (from april 2001) to make scans of the images.
greetings...
