Hello.
I finished this one today, i planned some basic base for it, but somehow i cannot get the right idea so i will leave as it is.
Kit is a Dragon in Italeri box, i got for whole 9 pounds.

Really nice build there Adam! Super finish. When and where did UN start using these? Bosnia? I also would have thought the markings would be much, much bolder for the usual reasons.
Did you build this OOB? How smooth did it go for you?
Thought of doing mine as a UN or Berlin Wall border duty unit if it goes back that far.
TIA and Cheers!
Rick

Hi Adam, nice build and a great paintjob. Did you build this straight out of the box?
I too would be interested to hear your feedback on the build process as I have a BTR-70 at home that I havent started yet, and I'll likely get a BTR-80A quite cheap over here in Minsk.

Hello Lads, i am glad you like it.
I found number of pictures of BTR-80 with UN markings, but not in exactly this config, so this is not an exactly accurate build.
Indonesian Army is using them in UN mission but they have a different turret and AC unit in the back of it.
Dragon doesn't provide UN decals, so i bought some dry transfers from Archer (very good quality product and very easy to apply).
Going back to kit. I build mine OOB and replaced handles for wire ones instead of plastic, that was the only modification.
I decided to build it exactly as instruction is saying and that was a mistake.
So if anyone want to build this one, i will suggest to assemble lower part of the hull (suspension etc) first, than put all the parts of hull together as there is some putty need it and add all details at the end of the build.
Be careful with side doors, they are not fitting together.
Except that it is a very nice model to build, i think that parade version will look very cool as manufacturer provide decals and painting scheme for it.

Ohh, the BTR looks superb!
Great detail on the chipped off color on edges and nice small "rust" effects!
I also made a snowed landscape some months ago, but had some problems with the fresh-fallen snow.
greetings and thanks for sharing the images!
