Here is another in progress pic of the project I`m now working on.
This fig is one of the two tankers from MIG produktions. The whole face is painted with enamels.
I first painted a layer of Humbrol skincolor mixed a drop of dark brown to it to get a dark skintone. I painted the whole face with this color. Then I ran a couple of really dark brown washes along the whole face paying extra attention to the deeper areas as the eyes and other wrinkles in the face. Then a couple of drybrushes with lighter skintones along the higher areas to highlight the face a little. Then mixed some red through some skintone thinned that down with turpentine and added that to the cheeck region. Next I took a dark grey thinned that down with turpentine and applied it to the places a beard would grow, Then just as a filter I took a drybrush and wiped it all downwarths to get this 2 day old beardlike thingy. At last a dry brush of dessert yellow for the hair and this is the result so far. (sorry for the grainy quality of the picture but my DC can`t simply do better I tried to improve it in Photoshop and this is the result)
Let me know what you think of it

First of all thanks.
Believe it or not but this pic is already taken at a distance of a meter wich is really a lot for a 1:35 fig. Tonight I will ask a good friend of me if I can borrow his DC. He has one with zoom and all that kind of fancy stuff and I will make new pics.

Well done. I really like the overall finish. The mouth is particularly appealing to me. The eyes stand out and tell a story of ugency. Well done.
What time of the year is this figure going to be set in? Reason I ask is that the cheeks are rosy pink, not in a bad way, it can totally work depending on the situation he's in.

Please tell us how you did his eyes. I've tried a couple figures and have had such a bad time doing their eyes it makes me not want to paint any figures!

Thanks guys for the replies so far. This is my first figure since the winter dio campaign and my first figure of wich I do washes and more tones and mixes of paint on. And without all of my own expactations it goes along very very well
Scott:
The time is going to be 1945 when the russians are rapidly taking over Berlin. To be exact actually somewhere before 10:20 pm April the 30th somehwere near the Reichstag.
Stef:
Bedankt dit zijn woorden die moed geven.
Grifter:
After all the Painting drybrushing and washing I was up to the eyes. I took an old brush that I had used for a lot of drybrushing on tanks in the early days and started to cut off some hairs till I had in the middle only 3 or 4 hairs standing up. this is now the finest brush I have. I took some signal white and dipped the tip of my newly home-made brush in it and Painted the eyeballs (trying to avoid the dark brown wash that gives the surrounding area of the eye this nice shade) Next I took some brown paint and with one touch of the brush I made an iris. Then black (really a super small amount of paint) and tipped in the places where I wanted the pupils to be. This takes a while to do but it looks great
If you guys have anymore questions let me know and I will answer

Looks good Rob, nice job capturing the emothion/urgancy of the situation. It really helps when you have a crisply molded, resin, face to work with....

For 1/35 scale, this is great. To go any better you will be joining the ranks of experts. The eyes and mouth look great and the face has an excellent expression. Looking at both pictures, the only thing I would try to touch up is doll pink cheeks. Its a nice effect, but the blushes are very toy like.
I have been painting the face of a 1/16 figure last night using humbrol enamels, and I noticed (well I had read quite a few articles and they have steered me in this direction) if you thin a paint to wash consistancy, dip your brush in, tip some old rag and roughly float it over an area ... it filters the area better and blends colours together. Much the same as filters in armor, but smaller scale. Its a very useful method, as the paint is so thin, the colour underneath shows through, but takes a little stain from the wash. This could be done several times to blend all colours together .. but they must dry between times ... warm lightbulb needed. Hopefully this will give you some ideas .. and help ... and not destroy what you have done!
I hope to have this figure finished tomorrow ... pics are coming.

Ola peopl
Thanks again.
Nate: You couldn`t be more true bout this. These are the MIG figures and I`m thinking of doing a review about them. These figs are actually the best I have ever had in hands. Good casted resin less cleaning and filling and such truly wonderfull figs.
Plasticbattle:
You too thanks bout the comments and the tips are really welcome too. About the blushes on me fig i have to agree with you and all the others who pointed that out to me. What I can tell you is that the blushy thingies already are a wash but maybe I should have toned it down with a little more skintone.
I already reworked the figs and they are almost finished
but am still waiting on that DC to borrow from a friend of me. So I`ll update Photo`s ASAP
Thanks again.
