I stumbled onto this photo online and could use everyone's collective photo-interpretation skills. Has this Shilka been given a whitewash or is it just me?

You are most defiantly correct. Too cool, never seen a picture like this. Would make for something different other than normal green or desert color.

Well, this is an interesting topic.
Under the Rules of the fund's military green plastic bags of water surface paint diluted with water or melted snow, shaken together, and then the disk to the pool brush to paint the surface.
The camouflage paint (there was a white-yellow-brown-black) colors are mixed with the environment, according to the proportion of the prepared surface of a patch, (which may be supplemented by branches).
The Soviet army's image in the vehicle-Zsu 23-4 V1 vehicle, winter camouflage paint, leaving a vertical strip in the center (signal, number of pages seen),.
Since water-soluble dye that eventually wear out.
The states of the Warsaw Pact military exercises used in winter and summer, autumn and spring pattern and colors.
I wish you good work!

Fascinating. And from some of the vehicles in the background (BMP-1s it looks like) not merely relegated to the Shilka. But there's no reason to believe the Soviets would change doctrine after WWII when it came to winter exercises and deployment. Thanks for all the photos
