Hi Guys !

This is my finished MLM C2 Mexas Conversion as entered in "The True North Strong and Free" Campaign.

This vehicle is Call sign 12, the troop officers vehicle with the Canadian Forces Registration (CFR) number 78-85134, B Squadron Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians), Afghanistan early 2007 - before the IED Electronic's were added to the turret.

I'm dedicating this build to Anthony Sewards who has been a fantastic help, and is just an aweseme bloke !!

I used the Italeri 1A2 kit as the Base for the conversion, and the following updates:

MLM 1A5 Conversion
MLM C2 Conversion
MLM C2 Mexas Conversion
Real Model Stowage and PE
Real Model Modern Canadian Tank Crew
Accurate armor water bottles for the antenna

Base Coat is Gunze Sangyo H340 Field Green, with a little Tamiya Smoke Post shading (just like Jim Caswell's excellent blog on ML):

http://www.network54.com/Forum/169232/message/1203572477/Preliminary+painting+complete

I was intially going to go VERY heavy on dust, however Anthony suggested that during that winter, rains etc were able to keep the 'Beasts' relatively clean

Here are a few progress pics as per my Campaign posts, as well as the finished model images :

Any comments are very much appreciated !

I can't wait to do another one of these (next time 12B with the Dozer blade).

Come on MLM, please "open shop" again

But MOST importantly, it's time to build some 'Shermies'

Cheers

Paul

Hello Paul.
I like how you have been the armored and crew.
The degree of "burnout" seem correct.
Using Tamiya Smoke color for the shadows in armored never had heard, I personally use "Black Sade" in Vallejo and doing quite well also.
The water bottles on the masts of the antennas I still find something funny, why do it?
Well Paul as a greeting and good job.

Juankar.

Thank you for your comments Juan, and also you insight into using "Vallejo: for your shading.

I used Tamiya Shadow for the first time on this project, I normally preshade and highlight, this time I did a bit of postshading. I wasn't afraid of the experiment not working as I knew it would probably be covered by dust anyway

The Canadian Crews use the water bottles to hold glow sticks for indentification in the field, a simple but effective little process don't you think ?

Thanks again and cheers !

Hello Paul.
Thanks for your explanation, if curious if, but sometimes the simplest is most effective.

Juankar.

Thanks Miloslav

It is such a cool tank in real life.

Your accesories and figures are great, they add that special touch (your super reference book helps a lot also)

Hopefully we can all get our hands on this MLM conversion again soon

Cheers

Nailed it Paul! Really well done. The figures add a lot too, and you've captured the look of the CADPAT-AR perfectly

Excellent job Paul...Congrats

Thanks Richard !

This has been my Favourite build ever.

The Mexas armor on the turret was a challenge, especially getting it lined up correctly at both the front and back, and also to the bustle.

I used Epoxy putty to fasten the armor to the kit turret (it gave time to adjust) and a lot of patience !!

Ok it's time - lets build some Shermans !!
