Thanks for posting your build pics Anthony! I've been looking over the same book while pondering what exactly I want to do with my Dragon Jagdtiger kit. I found the history of the 331 Jagdtiger interesting, and if I understand correctly that is the one you are standing next to in your avatar picture?
What product(s) did you use for weathering the Friulmodel tracks? I'm looking at using Black4Tracks on mine.
How did you like building the Tamiya kit? Just looking at it I know that I like the upper hull structure. The DML one has the front and rear plates molded separate from the rest of the upper structure. It was a real pain to get the front piece to line up correctly. I literally had to twist the hull with one hand while I set the front plate in and held it in place until it dried. It all came out straight in the end thankfully.

Anthony,
Nice looking Jadgtiger, I like it a lot. Is the spec camo applied with a brushed? And your workbench is so clean

Tamiya's the same way. Front and rear and roof of the superstructure are separate, but the fit is very good.

Thanks Jesse, I was unaware of that. The fit does look very nice to say the least.

Thanks for the comments Jeremy,
Yes thats me at Aberdeen, two summers ago,it was a great day to be outside.Dragon kits are more detailed, but for ease of assembly the Tamiya kit just about fell together,no fit problems. It was the same type assembly front and back plates but no issues. No Blackenit for me,too expensive. My recipe is basecoat with Tamiya XF-64,Heavy burnt umber and black wash,Mig Pigments Track Brown, and I painted the high parts and the teeth with Vallejo Oily Steel rather then just rubbing off the paint.I thought the bare steel would be too bright.Hope this helps, looking foward to following yours.

Thanks Anthony, and I had no idea you painted your tracks, they look really good. I am going to try the Black4Tracks on mine since I picked up a bottle a while back.
I meant to ask you this a couple days ago, how did you determine the number of track lengths you needed? The return roller(?) on the DML kit is infinitely positionable which makes it hard to determine how long the whole run needs to be.

The Tamiya kit does not include individual links. It has the option of either flexible vinyl tracks that can be glued together with modeling cement, or "link n' length" tracks, which is what I used on mine.

Jeremy I checked with another builder who used friuls, and he told me the number he used, which I have now forgotten, but I believe it was 94 links per side.

Jesse: Wow, I didn't even catch that. The silver tracks sat so well that I took it for granted they were metal links
Anthony: Thanks, I'll use 94 as a baseline
