Hello!
This is my WIP KV-1 in 1/35 scale. Use Trumpeter model and Aber PE.
Now make modulation, fading, washes and chipping.

well done! Not only this is a clean built, but you also managed an accurate painting. I like the fact that you didn't over due it and that when it comes to weathering your KV-I you apply the simple rule of: less is best!
Can you just give us an idea of how you achieve this painting result and break it down for us?
Thanks for your time and keep up the good work.
Chris

Very nice! I like it already and you're not even done. Which model 1942 kit is this - 358 (simplified turret), 359 (heavy cast turret) or 360 (lightweight cast turret)? I'm about to start kit 359, so I'm curious if there are any pitfalls to keep in mind.

Thanks for your attention!
Chris, I am use Tamiya acrilic paint, oil colors with pinene, tempera colour for filters and chipping, MIG washes and lead pencil for metal effect. I am make all like in MIG DVD.
Bill, this is 360 kit. Trumpeter series of KV tank is very nice and precise. For your 359 kit use walk-around tank in US Aberdeene museum: http://pblinov.narod.ru/galleries/tanks/kv1/aberdeene/index.html
You can make rough cast-marking in rearward of turret, new additional armor plate in forward of hull and more weld seam. And make marking only like on any real photo. Trumpeter usually give bad decals whith foolish text on Russian language!
Also see this nice articles about KV (on Russian language, but you can see pictures):

Alexander - Thanks for the links to dishmodels.com. I used to live in Russia, so I can still interpret some of what's there. But the model gallery has some great stuff ... and no interpretation required!

Neil - I'm well aware of 4bogreen.com ... that's what inspired me to buy and build a KV-1 in the first place! So thank you for creating that resource for everyone. I hope to start a build log for kit #00359 once I've read through your "recipe" in more detail, so if you check back occasionally you can keep me honest.

Nice looking KV. The weathering is not overpowering like so many others that you see. I'll be building my 1st KV-1 for the up coming Killer KV campaign

Alexander - Really nice. I'll be pleased if the KV-1 I'm building now comes out this nice. Have you deliberately left off the hull and turret rear-facing machine guns?

What tracks did you use? They definitely aren't the link n' length tracks from the kit. Are those the rubber band tracks? Or aftermarket? Is there a reason for not showing any track sag?

Thanks for your compliments!
I am make my tank like on real photo from E-bay (can I use this preview? It is not offence of copyright?). On this photo KV is stuck and left, and so MG is absent. KV had attempt of backward move, and so on photo and my KV haven't track sag.
I am use plastic tracks from kit. I am straighten upper tracks tape with hair-drier of my girlfriend. And the same method I had made damage of left fender (with protective paper screen).
Now I am make diorama with KV and my figures "Under fire" series of Stalingrad firm.

This is great work Alexander! I really like KV tanks but I only ever made one is 1/48 scale. I really need to do some more Russian WW2 tanks in 1/35.
KV/IS-2/and ISU-152 for sure I think.
Fantastic weathering by the way!
