OK, two parts... after I'm done with my current project I plan on doing a T-55. I know the Tamyia kit is the best on hte market. If you had to pick the next best T-55 kit what would it be???
I want to do a T-55 in the scheme of the tank on the left in this picture (I've got a hi-res pic of this). Any suggestions or guidance?

And that's even cheaper in price than the Skif kit!!!! I'll just have to find out what seperate track links will fit on the Trumpeter model.

Any tracks that fit the Tamiya kit will fit the Trumpeter. Any PE for the Esci/Italeri kit or for the Tamiya kit will also fit the Trumpeter.
Tamiya's kit has been reissued, BTW, and the grief you'll get building the Trumpeter or Esci/Italeri kits is well worth the few extra dollars you'll pay, so don't bother buying aftermarket for the other kits, purchase the Tamiya kit as well. You'll be glad you did.

IIRC, that's about ten miles east of Kabul, not in the Boneyard per se. Mount Gar will be to the left. (northwest)
One warlord in particular was doing a scheme of orange and yellow squiggles which was pretty interesting as well.
Another of my favorite warlords (they're all just so fun to kick it with) was Engineer Wazir out of Pol-e-Charki. I've posted photos, and a few folks have done models from those photos, of his very well executed gray/sand/dk green scheme. A Google search should reveal at least one nice BRDM-2 done in that scheme. I think it was posted on here.
These are of course recollections based upon my "so-called" deployment in 2002, so that gives you the "so-called" time frame as well.

The Esci kit arrived in the mail yesterday. I have the Empire City decals for T-55s. I like the South Sudan Liberation Army, Somali, and Eithiopian schemes. Anyone have full pics of the Somali scheme?
