Hi all, in preparation for my next build, I'm hoping you can point me in the right direction on a couple of things.

The kit in question is Dragon's Scud/ launcher.I've heard that it's not easiest/greatest kit to build, but I don't know if it's poor fit issues alone or if there are some accuracy issues as well?

So, I'm looking for reference material. Either on the web or in book form.
Second, I'm guessing the kit could use some TLC from some aftermarket. I know that eduard has a couple of sets. One for inside , one for out. Though I'm not sure if they are worth the price for what you get...Even if they are the only game in town.

Are there enough similarities between the 543 used to haul the scud around and the 537 that I could possibly find aftermarket stuffs to use?

As you can tell, I am completely lost in this semi-modern era of modeling.

Any help at all would be a HUGE help.

Thanks all!
Clint

Dragon's SCUD-B kit has issues...mostly with lack of detail, but also with some fit. I did not have fit issues when I built mine, but lack of detial is a definate problem.

Eduard PE sets are needed. They will help step up the detail level. The Masks from Eduard are not really needed unless you want help with pre-cut wheel or window masks.

Tank Maker wheels are a BIG plus as well. http://www.tankworkshop.com/Shop/agora.cgi?cart_id=125.28790&next=30&exact_match=on&product=Tank+Maker

Some detail will need to be added as well. There are two books out with SCUD info, from Concord and from Osprey They are not really detail oriented books, but they are the best IN PRINT. Prime Portal have 3 photo shoots under the 9P117 label. They are a better source of true detail shots.

The Maz 543 and Maz 547 are not interchangeable. I am not sure there is any aftermarket that would really be interchangeable in 1/35.

Are there any PE-parts as aftermarket out there for the MAZ 537 anyway?

Jacques, thanks for the info. I never would've even known about the wheels/tires from Tank Workshop.
I think this is the first time I've really looked at Prime Portal. I can see it becoming a very good friend of mine!

Marian, I don't think there is, but that was just a guess on my part as I know there are a few kits of the 537 from Trumpy. I didn't want to go looking for AM stuff for them until I knew whether or not it would be useable.

Thanks guys,

Clint

Voyager makes some PE sets for the MAZ-537 kits. One even comes with resin wheels (I do not know how good they are).
