Im in the process of fitting Trumpeters KMT-5 mine roller onto the Tamiya T-72 and am wondering if when the roller is mounted the front dozer blade is removed? Also if anyone has any actual pictures that show specifically the KMT-5 mounted on a T-72 that would be most helpful.

Hey Rob, the blade would stay inplace just like on the T-64/80. The mine clearing equipment would just mount to the bosses on the lower hull. Too much work for the crew just to remove the blade as it is design to be out of the way with the different packages installed. Hope this helps some.

Thanks Chris thats a great help. I figured the blade would stay in place but you can never be too sure with these things, I was getting worried id have to start modifying more of the Tamiya kit. Back i go now to try and further improve this terrible Trumpeter mine roller......

Not only does the blade stay on, but it can be used with engineering equipment attached!

Hi Rob,
about those bosses, you'll need to source the 4 inboard ones from somewhere else as the Tam. kit only includes the 2 outboard sets. I have been told that this is a feature of export tanks and Soviet built vehicles include the full complement of mounts.

Thanks Sean, luckily the additional bosses are included in Miniarms T-72B hull conversion set.
