I wanted to let everyone know about a new AFV reference CD put together by Canadian Modeller Ken LeClair from Victoria, BC.

During Ken's tour in Afghanistan in 2007/2008 he took literally thousands of great images of Canadian AFVs.

In his first photo CD, "Leopard 2 Series AFVs in Afghanistan", Ken has put together an extremely detailed and comprehensive look at the details on the Canadian Leopard 2A6M and the Canadian Leopard 2 ARV 3.

The Leopard 2A6M images are placed into 23 folders each showing specific details and walkarounds of the Leopard 2A6Ms. The folders are broken down in multiple images of each part of the exterior of the tank.

Folders include:
-Leopard 2A6M Walkaround
-glacis add on armour and driver's hatch
-fenders, lights, spare track area
-back deck
-rear view camera area
-rear area
-sprockets, drivetrain, and suspension
-bottom add on armour
-powerpack
-120 mm gun barrel
-Mantlet and front turret add on armour area
-Gunner's sight
-C8 stowage box
-Commander's hatch and PERI sight area
-Loader's hatch area and MG3
-ECM boxes
-Antennas
-Turret rear
-Turret electrical slave unit compartment cooling vent
-Turret baskets
-MBGDs
-Slat armour details
-Parked tanks with stowage and weathering

None of the tanks shown in the images have the Barracuda MCS fitted.....so you can see every little detail.

In regards to the Leopard 2 ARV 3 the folders consist of...

-ARV 3 Walkaround
-Hull
-Suspension
-Hull rear
-Top Hull Superstructure
-Backdeck
-Crane boom
-Dozer blade
-MBGDs
-Antennas
-MG3 and Commander's hatch

At $9.99 the CD is a fantastic bargain.

If you are going to build a Canadian Leopard 2A6M buy this CD! If you like the Canadian 2A6M buy this CD! If you like modern Canadian modelling buy this CD!

You can contact Ken LeClair at [email protected], using "Afghan Photo CD" as the subject.

Ken is planning more Canadian Afghanistan deployment reference CDs in the future including the Leopard 1 series, LAV III, Bison/Coyote series, M113 series, Nyala, Husky, Cougar, and Buffalo.

Ken's a good friend of mine and fellow modeller, not to mention El' Presidente of our local club. I have seen these photos and they are outstanding! Thanks to Ken, I am able to get on with my build. Buy with confidence.

Cheers

Hello All,

just wanted to thank Jason and Brad, you guys are the best.
Second, I should mention it is a DVD with over 4GB on it.
Third, to ship to the US I need to ask for $10.50 US, and for the rest of the world $14.00 US. I just had quotes from Canada Post and I have to ask this. My apologies for any inconvenience.

OK, I got my copy of Ken's DVD today, and all I can say is WOW...it is hard to put into words how great Ken's pictures are; there is literally not a single square inch of the Leo 2A6M Can that isn't covered; and for those of youwho have commented that youare stumped on the mounting location for the slat on your Leo model, well my friend this is the solution to your problem. As a matter of fact as I emailed Ken I would strongly recommend anyone who is going to be embarking on a Canadian Leo project get this DVD BEFORE you start on the Eduard slat, because the up close photos of some of the pieces clarify how you need to form some of the PE bits that aren't real clear in Eduard's instructions, especially on the mounting brackets. As Jason said, at 9 bucks this DVD is indeed a fantastic bargain, and I would wholeheartily recommend it to anyone building a Canadian Leo model, anyone planning on building a Canadian Leo model, anyone building ANY Leo model, fans of Canadian armor, fans of the Leopard, those interested in weathering reference for vehicles in the Afghan campaign, or anyone who is a fan of modern armor, period. Thanks again, ken,and thanks Jason for bring the DVD to our attention, and Brad for the endorsement.

Ya think? LOL Seriously, I was and am very impressed with the time and trouble Ken went to to record all the images on the DVD, and man, how great would it be if you had this kind of reference material for every project you embarked upon, on top of having actual Leo crewman on this forum to ask questions? Don't get much better than that.

Ken! Thanks for posting some teaser pictures. I just received your CD yesterday and I have to echo "WOW!!" The images you've posted don't even qualify as teasers given how many high quality images you've taken and are on this disc.

Highly Highly Recommended!

I can now stop scouring the internet for photos!

Ken - How many images are on this CD? I tried counting but lost track... is hundreds a good estimation?

Cheers! And all the best!

Hey Carmen,

well theres almost 2000 on the Leo 2 alone, so I think about 3200 total. Enjoy the DVD. I will be posting samples from the Leo 1 Series within a week, I hope.
