Hey everyone, I have a question about the masterclub replacement wheels. I just recieved in the mail today some wheels for a pt-76 and some of the wheels have alot of execess resin on them. Only 5 out of 12 were cast perfectly and the rest have problems with them. I can take my xacto knive and flake off the dries resin, but I'm afraid I might damage the details on the wheels doing this. Is there a better way to do this instead and has anyone ran into this problem with masterclub before? Other than that, there really nice wheels to have.

Hi Chris, I've only ever used a masterclub BMP-2 wheel set before so I can only comment on my experience with those.
I found that the BMP wheels were very well done, there was some excess flash but not a great deal and I found most of this came off during washing when I scrubbed them with my old tooth brush. The sprockets were also very nice and I had no problems with those either. You might find soaking the wheels in warm water and attacking them with a tooth brush might help. Could you post some pictures so we could see what issues you had?
I share your pain, wheels are very important and I was really disappointed with the resin SP Designs T-80 Wheels I used. I really don't like them at all! I'm planning on hiding as much as possible in mud and the scenic base!
Perhaps these PT-76 wheels were just a bad batch? Since I haven't worked with many of their sets though I can really comment.

Hey Jon, here are some pictures of what I'm having problems with.
The middle wheel is the good one for comparison. As you can see from the outer wheels there is some nasty casting. It's almost like the molds are bad or something, but there is execess resin on the wheels. It's a pain in the but to remove since I tried it lastnight and one of the wheels was badly cast when I hit an airpocket while trying to remove the stuff and damage the rim. I'm going to try to see if I can soak the wheels to remove the crap. If not I'm going to cast new ones from what good wheels I have.

You might want to contact the vendor for a new set.

I see what you mean these are pretty awful. I'd just ask for a new set and return them to the vendor too!

Ok Jon, that's it. I worked hard on those T-80 road wheels and don't need you bad mouthing them!
Just kidding! I think you got a bad set, really. Here are the shots I took of from a set I randomly grabbed out of my stock:
Not the greatest shot, but it shows the rim is level and even, as well as no air bubbles.
Another shot.
And Primed with gray primer.
Sorry Jon, I think you got a bad set of wheels...not sure where the F'ed up rims came from though...??? You want a new set of wheels, let me know.
Oh, and remember all, the MC wheels are meant for the DML kits and will need some love to get to work with the SKIF kit...one of the main reasons I mastered a new set instead of just using the MC roadwheels.

Hi Jacques, No doubt I just have an unlucky set I guess. These things happen! The set you show here is a million times better.
I considered trying to fix the messed up rim detail but in the end it just proved too difficult without ruining the rest of the wheel. I've actually painted up the wheels now and will be mounting them on the tank soon. Thanks for the offer of a replacement set but I think once the wheels are on, with the tracks and fenders it probably won't notice that much anyway. Also I plan to weather them up pretty heavily.

Masterclub does better work than that....I'd send the photo you posted to whomever you purchased them from and ask for a replacement set as they look pretty bad and unuseable to me....
Masterclub items are expensive because there stuff is of great quality...that photo does not support that notion.

Thanks Greg, I was just wondering if anyone else has run into this problem before since all the reviews I have seen have good parts. I've been trying to get a hold of the place to got them from but no reply yet.
